Then I was approached about Michael Thomas. If thst trade had come before I traded Stafford, I end up keeping Stafford. Having said that, I'm not dwelling on that. What I decided to do is look at what I wanted my offense to be, who fit my offense best, and I felt like that was Lamar Jackson. Could I have gotten him as an FA? Maybe, idk what Antartica intended to do with the 5th yr option. But I do know I'm not the only team that needed it a QB. So I chose to just forgo the potential competition and get the guy I wanted now. I essentially traded Matthew Stafford for LJ, a 6th, 2 7ths, and Tyler Boyd. If I had a 1st in the 8-16 range I'd absolutely have to consider him. Perhaps some of that positional value would slide him down. But it probably shouldn't. I think it's mostly this class being weaker. But as others like scoundrel and I think bcb pointed out, there are other reasons as well. A 2nd round QB here is still a top 32 guy in the draft. And also there are fewer teams so the percentage of teams with elite QB talents is high. Here's the issue with Lamar Last year, he didn't do great and struggled with injuries, that Baltimore OL was terrible and Antartica couldn't decide from one week to the next who their starter was. I love a good offense, good offensive line, and I'm not going to be asking him to be Aaron Rodgers. So let's not get caught up again in predetermined voting before games even happen.
