Well yeah if he comes at too high of a price then we obviously shouldn't re-sign him, my comment was meant more in a "if the contract is as perfect as possible for everyone involved" kind of way. I don't think you should really discount his role though, I'd venture to say his "joker" role is more valuable than if he was just a normal SS, as he gets to play all over the field and impact the game in more ways. Not as valuable as a FS though and he definitely shouldn't be paid top safety money because that accounts for all those elite FS.

I'm not on board with paying Vacarro top safety money either.  I have definite suspicions that he won't keep up this level of play after getting paid.
