This one is a bit different. It's five potential trade targets and their cap cosiderations--Amari Cooper, Calvin  Ridley, Jarvis Landry, James Bradberry, Za’Darius Smith.

If he's not available to play a recognized position, that's shame on Staff for giving a coveted roster spot to a "non-player", regardless of his ST "abilities". IMO

Now you're being silly. He's a CB in name only like Do'D is a LB in name only. Losing him will not inconvenience the secondary.

and that's my point isn't it?

It's really a shame that you can't find 11 players on your roster willing to "man up" on maybe 10 kickoffs/returns per game, who also are starters/backups. Instead you're relying on dedicated roster spots for players who'll play ONLY THOSE 10 PLAYS. Ridiculous

Green Bay thought this way.    As well as the Chargers for years.    It's probably only 3-4 roster spots that a strictly dedicated to ST's.   Would gladly give up those roster spots to not have a ST unit that loses multiple games each year.

If you say so. You seemed to be saying that the secondary was losing a player when it really isn't.

If you want elite ST play you either use starters--for example Albert Lewis in the 80s and 90s--or you use dedicated players as the core of coverage and returns. I am completely in favor of investing one our multiple 7th round picks in a return specialist as well.

So, our roster has 48 players and 5 specialists. It's a decision that they made some time ago.
