It always depends on who. I don't care to wait til the end of a QB rookie contract to add great players. I'm all for getting them when you can to help the QB growth and they will still contend by year 3 or 4.

KingOfNewYork
You trade for a 20M receiver that’s all you’re doing.
Bobby816
The issue we have when trading for a vet is that guys are more likely to restructure if they’re going to a winning team. We aren’t that. So we’d have to really sell that traded player that what we’re doing in the next couple years is worth the restructure

Its not like JD hasnt tried fixing that position group. Drafted Mims, he just sucks, signed Corey Davis whose production was right on track with his career before injury, and drafted Elijah Moore who looks like a legit offensive weapon. Fans complaining we didnt send a 5 for a steadily declining WR with a $20million cap hit. That is how you blow your off-season.
KingOfNewYork
Zach’s growth will have little to do with who he’s throwing to. Let me explain. If Zach is throwing to Jeff Smith and Jeff Smith is open and Zach either overthrows him or is late then him throwing to Amari Cooper late or overthrowing isn’t going to change that. He would still be bad, Smith or Cooper. AT THE SAME TIME(before you jump down my throat) we definitely cannot send Jeff Smith out there because he won’t win his match ups often enough to give Zach a chance to either overthrow him or miss him late. So regardless of the receivers he will have to be good but better receivers will give him more opportunities to be good. If that makes sense. You know what makes an offense dangerous? When all 5 guys are a threat to receiver the ball, 6 if you have to account for the QBs ability on the move. Last year we were playing often with no tight ends and only 2 receivers. We have the assets and cap to add a couple pieces to round out the skill positions. We need more than one guy. We can add 4 for a little over 20M between FA and the Draft. Any guy. The rookie we likely draft will have some growing pains too. It’s on Davis, Moore and likely Berrios, maybe Mims to lead.

Produced well last year in a similar offense, 26 years old, won’t break the bank. He checks off a few boxes. Is a 3 man group of Davis, Moore and Gage good enough for this fan base is the question?
