2022 Head Coach Thread

The Texans have completed their second interview with Josh McCown for their head-coaching vacancy.

Houston officially reported the completion of their second interviews with Eagles DC Jonathan Gannon and former Dolphins HC Brian Flores as well. McCown got an interview for Houston's head-coaching vacancy last year but was ultimately passed over for David Culley. After spending another year as an assistant coach at his sons' high school, the Texans may now see him as fit to lead an NFL team. Though Flores has strong connections to Houston management, McCown remains firmly in the mix, as bizarre as it sounds.

This was posted right above the news about 2nd interview of O'Connell.

Also, this is independent, third party assessment of the Htown HC process.  :(

What is the Norm for hiring a coach that’s in the super bowl? Do they just wait until after the game to announce or do they announce and the guy just doesn’t leave until after the game

It was known Kyle Shanahan was leaving Atlanta for San Francisco during that SB vs New England.

Guess it's a case-by-case sort of thing.

SB teams have a week off, i believe teams interviewing them can hire them as HC but it wont be formally officially until the SB is over.

Does this effectively take him out of the running?

D@ng it, LJC... I was coming to post this... lol

Yeah, now we know why Flores is not being mentioned... which possibly gives more credence to his lawsuit.

Plus since he name dropped Bill... the other parts of Bill's tree may ostracize him
