AnAngryAmerican
So, of course, soon as I lament the lack of moves we make a good one. Jones is the real deal and a big help at a position of need.

He is extremely stout, but also rushes the passer extremely well. Super quick twitch, fast to read it, uses leverage well. Just an all around fantastic football player. You guys are going to love him. He is going to kill us when we play you guys
paul-mac
Great move adding DJ Jones. We’ve all been rightly focused on the QB search for a long time but interior DL was also a huge need as @lomaxgrUK has pointed out before. Hopefully Jones (DJ) can provide an upgrade over Mike Purcell as the big run stuffer while Dre’Mont makes the leap to fill Shelby Harris’s role, as he showed some promise of being able to do last season. D.Jones x2 could be our version of Kevin and Pat Williams (Williams wall) in Minnesota. We’ll need to think of a nickname for them.
paul-mac
Remember when Bridgewater was asking for $25m per year? He’s been forced to take a one year, $6.25m deal to be the backup in Miami.

Hopefully George has something planned because this has been a colossal disappointment on the first day, despite the local media butt-kissing over the one year deals for Beck and Anderson. Ridiculous take. Who should we have paid for the money they got? We just traded for Wilson, signed some of our own players to incredibly team friendly deals. What else do you want? Bad contracts? broncos67
Hoping to see OLB and CB today. Maybe LB too but I’ve seen a few people suggest we’re going to look to the draft for that position.

If Jewell is in heavy demand more likely we go elsewhere. No problem if we go with Kenny Young at less $ for example. Even if we go draft with ILB getting a vet at mid level prices more than reasonable (but yeah not at these top end market prices). But Jones offers inside push on the pass rush. Really helps Dre’mont Jones chances for a breakout season with him - so long as we find EDGE pressure. At 3/30M cost more but no argument. Chargers took advantage of the cap flexibility Herbert’s contract gave them but so far so good on our end - provided we get EDGE and RT. EDGE the one spot we likely can’t wait to go value mining alone if we want to contend this year but still options on the board today. As has been pointed out - Paton has been impressive - last season with FA and the draft - and this year with getting Wilson, signing some of our own FAs and getting Jones. You have to think he was a much bigger part of the Vikes FO than previously thought - when you see that it has been cleared out since he joined us. I think if anything the Vikes should have listened to Paton more, they might not have made all the mistakes they’ve made the last decade. Spielman was a solid GM but by no means a great one. George has already established himself as a top-5 GM in the league.

A lot of money given to a player who never played a full season. In other words, no Von Miller from Denver.
