Lefty withdraws his name from the Jags job

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports the Jaguars interviewed former Vikings general manager Rick Spielman for a "high-level front office position."

It's unclear what the position would be. Spielman, one of the league's most respected general managers before he was shockingly dismissed by the Vikings last month, could bring some much-needed clout to a joke franchise lacking any sense of direction. Locking up Spielman in the team's front office would inspire confidence in the team's next head coach following last year's Urban Meyer debacle, even if GM Trent Baalke somehow stays put.

This might be the 1st smart thing Jags have done in a while.

Except from things that I have read in the News thread and other sites, it's so that Baalke can work more with the players and development of them.

It's apparently because Baalke wants to be more involved with the players during games.
