Nobody said spend a first round pick on a RB. Only way that happens is if Barkley is there. 2nd or 3rd round there will be a lot of value to take a RB.

Lynch is due 6 million next season. He's not worth that and the Raiders can cut him and save 6 mil against the cap.

I realise the question was not aimed at me but I like Guice plenty - but I wouldn't take him in the first round. The only RB I feel is worth first round consideration is Barkley.

This is about where I'm at here too. Not to derail the Free Agency thread but if it's not Barkley I'd rather pass on a RB in the first (especially at 10) and look to FA to fill that slot for now with someone like Lynch (if he's kept by Gruden) or Hyde. Or obviously a RB later in the draft in round 2-4 which seems to be a sweet spot for RB value.

I don't mean to derail the conversation with guys who are currently under contract. BUT Demarco Murray seems like he could be a cut candidate. Derrick Henry is for real and Murray has a relatively large contract, none of which is guaranteed next year. If he hits the market, would you consider him to be a back worth pursuing or do you think the price tag or age/injury history would be too much of a risk? My ears would certainly perk up - but I would feel like there would need to be a contingency plan if that route were to be taken.

If I remember correctly we had interest before.

Good point. I had completely forgotten all about that. That was a couple years and a couple injuries ago too, so I wonder if that interest would still be there. I'm on the fence about it, I would like to get younger, but with as many holes as this team has, and as many good RBs seem to be getting pumped out yearly, I'd be OK kicking that positional can down the road another year if a draft value doesn't present itself.

Another guys a lot of us were pounding the table for and they draft Jihad Ward 1 pick before. Reggie had interest in Murray at one point before he was traded to the Titans.

Need to remove Sean Smith from your depth chart since he's cut.

Vea needs to play in nickel situations to be worth a top 10 pick.

Two things: in my breakdown he does play nickel; Lotulelei would be the one to sub out. Secondly, I believe a nose tackle in the vein of Brandon Williams or Damon Harrison are worth top 10 picks.

Yup, many who haven't really broken him down in whole game tape don't know that he wasn't the primary NT for the Huskies in their base defense. They played 3-4 some 3-4 under aspects and, of course, a lot of nickel. Vea is 335lbs, yes, but he is also 6'5". He played mainly as 3T in college and sometimes in nickel moved to the 1T depending on the other lineman in the game. Greg Gaines (6'2" 322lbs) played the NT or 1T or 0T in their base defense most of the time. He would come out in nickel a lot and the SLB, Benning Potoae, would be the 4th rusher on the line.

Vea has the size, length, penetrating burst and strength to play anywhere on the interior of the dLine,. He holds up and makes plays at the point of attack in the running game and keeps the "off the line" interior defenders clean. I see him being an impact player for the whole defense. Demanding a double team when on the opposite side of the line as Mack and when they are lined up next to one another it will wreck game plans.

I'm high on a lot of different guys for the first round pick, and would be excited to plug them into the lineup. However, my excitement goes through the roof every time I circle back to Vea, or read a breakdown like this one. Oh man, just the thought of the bolded. Gimme.
