Trent Baalke's the GM, Khan's the owner.    As bad as Meyer/Bevell OC were massive liabilities, JAX isn't really out of the woods until Baalke is gone, and Khan stops being an interfering owner.   Nothing but respect for Fangio as a DC, but yeah, no team should be even sniffing him as a HC, especially right away.

Turns out it was far more likely an interview for the DC job.  Sanity prevails even in JAX.

If that's the case, probably better to just hire your HC and see if's he's on board, not much need for the interview, especially if the HC isn't in place.   It's not like Fangio wouldn't be a top DC choice, more will the new HC be on the same page, if so, make the offer.

Have an adult in the room DC, which Vic no doubt is, would be important for a young, first time HC (like Leftwich, who I still believe lands there). But like you say, Kahn has to take a more hands off approach and Baalke needs to be shown the door or just demoted to like a “senior personnel advisor,” aka yes-man Brian Xanders role with the Rams.
