The Panthers are in the terrible position of having a lame duck coach, that would need to win now. I see it very hard for them to trade up for a QB in that predicament, but hey, the Bears did it last year.

A new QB, especially if you say he is raw, can buy you time. Its actually the only thing that may buy Rhule time in Carolina.

Do you have any examples where it worked? I took a quick look and only found where it failed.

John Fox drafted Trubisky in 2017, fired next year.

Todd Bowles drafted Darnold in 2018, fired next year.

Hue Jackson drafted Baker Mayfield in 2018, fired next year

Anthony Lynn drafted Justin Herbert in 2020, fired next year

Matt Nagy drafted Justin Fields in 2021, fired next year.

Thank god the Giants fired Judge. I liked him, but a lame duck and no QB is a recipe for failure.

Yea, i see it differently.  Outside of trading for a proven veteran, I think if they trade up for rookie and they show real progess it might be enough for Rhule to get one more year.  Either way, they won't go into next year with the options on their current roster

It may work out, but I can’t find ONE example of when it did and saves the HC.

You're definitely right, and that is a good find. The important thing though for us, from our perspective, is just if the Panthers and Rhule take that line of thinking, not whether it actually works out. Regardless if it has or not in the past, Rhule could very well think it may work for him, which is good enough for us.

We'll know a lot more after free agency, when these Rodgers/Wilson/Cousins/Jimmy G situation resolve one way or another.

Of course! One can only hope their owner has the hands in the cookie jar, and wants to trade up for a QB.

Brian Daboll's first press conference went well. It didn't take long (the actual video starts at 30 minutes). He didn't make any promises or tell any stories, but confirmed that they are excited to work with Daniel Jones and intend to keep Patrick Graham at DC.

Most important thing I took away from it was Daboll's eagerness to get back to his office and work.
