  1. 1. How do you feel about a Deshaun trade?

    • I'd pay whatever it cost to get it done
    • For the right price I'd do it
    • Under no circumstances would I trade for Deshaun
    • I'd rather trade for another QB (please list)
      0
    • I'm rolling with Baker for 2022 regardless.

Deshaun Watson Carolina GIF by The Undroppables

Yes, I've got us trading for Deshaun Waston.

Alot of fans are going to have trouble with the idea of bringing in Deshaun, and I understand it.

But this team having Chubb, Kareem, Bitonio, Teller, Myles, Denzel, and JJ3 we're ready to win now! We can't waste all this talent we're spending too much money to not compete. We see to get to a Superbowl you have to have a Superstar at the QB position, and honestly Baker on his best day doesn't have the talent to compete with the likes of Burrow, Mahomes, Allen, Herbert.

We have to make a move some type of move. And before I trade for a Kirk Cousins or even Russell I'm going to go after 26 year old Watson. So here is the trade.

Offseason Trades:

Trade 1

Browns Send: Baker Mayfield, our 2022 second rounder, 23 first rounder, and 24 first rounder.

Texas Send: Deshaun Watson

I think this is a realistic trade. Very similar to the Stafford trade, but a little more with sending our second rounder. Plus Baker still has value, and even if they don't want to keep him after next season if he signs somewhere else in 2023 as a FA that could net them a future comp pick. They're getting alot of value in trading with us.

Nick Caserio was a part of the Patriots FO when they were apparently enamored with Baker coming out. I think bringing Baker back to Texas with the opportunity to compete with Davis Mills could be worthwhile for Houston.

We keep our 2022 first rounder because we still need to add talent around Deshaun.

Trade 2

Browns Trade 2022 3rd rounder, and 2022 4th rounder

Falcons Send: Calvin Ridley

This FA receiver class is filled with injured players. The top guys are either going to command a ton of money or are coming off of ACL injures. Godwin and Gallup suffered theirs late in the season so it may take time for them to come back 100%. I'm also not sure either of them are bonafide number 1 receivers.

The benefit trading for Ridley is you have one year left on his rookie deal. You're not going to be paying him a ton in 2022. You then will have the option to franchise him if you want as well, and if you do get to point where you can resign him you've got a year to have him in your system and culture to get him to buy in to a favorable deal instead of having to pay top dollar for a guy like Godwin, Gallup, or Adams.

I personally think Ridley sat out last year because he knew Atlanta wasn't going anywhere with Matt Ryan. Ryan is done he just doesnt have the arm strength any longer. Sitting out a year saves you from potential injury. Having these extra picks from the Kwesi hire allows us to make these moves. We don't need a ton of rookies. You get Deshaun and then you instantly get him his number 1 receiver.

FA Signings:

1. Will Fuller to a 1 year contract - You sign Fuller so Deshaun has a familiar face as he gets adjusted to Cleveland, and you bring in someone into the receiver room who has a positive view of Watson. We need a deep threat anyway because I have little faith in Schwartz. It's at least worth the signing with a one year deal. Having him in the receiver room alone has value.

2. Sheldon Richardson to a 2 year deal - Malik was a non factor this season. Bring back Sheldon on a reasonable deal. I don't think there were hard feelings when he left.

Resignings

David Njocku 3 year deal - He'll want to play with Deshaun. I think they would be a good fit together. He's still got the athleticism and is only 25.

Jadevon Clowney 2 year deal - He's been great with the team we don't need another hole.

MJ Stewart 2 year deal- Let Harrison walk and sign Stewart for half the price

Malik Mcdowell One year deal - I think he's still signed with us as an Exclusive rights FA. Just bring him back if he messes up again cut him, but idk if him being naked in Florida is enough to let him go yet.

*Keenum will be in year 3 of his 3 year deal we keep him.

Tender Dernest

Let walk: Anthony Walker, Hubbard, McKinley, Malik, Higgins, Harrison etc..

Cut: Austin Hooper, Jarvis- I think its just time to let these guys walk in this situation. I'd honestly be open to keeping Jarvis, but having his personality and bringing in Deshaun might be a lot to handle.

Draft: I'm using this link as a gauge of picks/player slots

https://www.profootballnetwork.com/2022-nfl-mock-draft-cummings-january/

1st rounder Pick 13: WR Garrett Wilson Ohio State - Now youve got a number of playmakers around Deshaun. Having Wilson, Ridley, DPJ as your top guys and Schwatz and Fuller you've got some different skill sets. Thats a nice starting 3 lineup for Deshaun.

2nd rounder Pick 44 - Traded to Houston in Deshaun Trade*

3rd rounder Pick 78 - LB Christian Harris Alabama - We need more linebackers after letting Walker go. Harris has been a starter on a championship level defense who could eventually be the headset wearer for our team.

Kwesi Comp Pick 3rd rounder- Traded to Atlanta in Ridley trade*

4th rounder Pick 104 - TE Jalen Wyndermeyer Texas AM - I dont think he'd fall this far, but he did in their mock. Bring in another athletic TE with the departure of Hooper.

4th rounder Pick 115- Traded to Atlanta in Ridley trade*

5th rounder Pick 154 - DT Chris Hinton Michigan - More D-line depth

6th rounder 193 - OT Chris Paul Tulsa - Apparently a high character player that we may be able to molded into a backup swing tackle with Hubbard leaving.

7th rounder 222 - DE Tyreke Smith Ohio State - More depth and swings on the Dline.

Offseason Recap: I don't think there are many teams that will be able to bring in Deshaun this offseason. We stick out to me because of the amount of ammo we have especially after the added comp picks with the Kwesi hire, the coaching staff and FO that is already in place that can handle the media, and the fact we have so many players that are in their window. We pay alot, but honestly because we're ready to win now I don't see those first rounder crippling us moving forward. Having a franchise QB we can eventually make up for it in FA when players want to play on a Superbowl level team.

Bringing in Ridley gives you that number 1 threat without having to break the bank this year, and weapons like Wilson and Fuller help to have a diverse passing attack.

Bringing in Deshaun you instantly have the best QB in franchise history, and a small market like Cleveland who's already been through the Kareem Hunt situation will soften the blow of media backlash.

Let me know what you all think, but I think someone resembling this is going to happen this offseason. We just see you've got to have a real guy, and Baker on his best day still ain't it.

sense Mayfield can beat Burrows I will take Mahomes plus 2 number 1s for Mayfield.

Love the effort that you put forth on this.

I know it'll cost a lot to get Watson, but I worry about mortgaging so much of our future.  (I understand it, but if this blows up, it'll be time to start blowing up the club for our next rebuild, which will be a race with the Steelers to see who can get closest to the new kings of the division.)

There is no way that I can see us getting Watson and him not being suspended for a year shortly thereafter.

There is no way with that looming over his head (he will be suspended, at least a year I believe unless he goes to Pittsburgh or one of the NFL's sweethearts). He also has multiple criminal complaints against him so there is a chance he does prison time. If you give up a QB, a 2nd and two 1sts for worst case scenario I don't think any regime could weather that.

So let me get this right, you want to trade our current QB, this year's second round pick and two future first round picks for a QB that is in a legal situation that could still potentially land him in prison? You have lost your damned mind?  Now if the legal stuff all gets cleared up, then I could understand it (but not agree with it). While all the legal stuff is still out there though, no way I make that trade.

And from this  report, it is no where close to being resolved on the Civil court side...but we could see a Criminal court update soon. https://sports.yahoo.com/the-leaking-of-an-alleged-deshaun-watson-settlement-offer-suggests-his-legal-cases-will-continue-to-loom-over-the-nfl-this-offseason-012042482.html

I'd say the mock is contingent on having enough information where foreseeably you don't expect him to spend any prison/jail time.

Suspension wise I'm not sure what the expectation is there, but from the law standpoint I'm making this trade if I'm Andrew Berry with the expectation that he isn't going to jail. If he's found innocent he may not get suspended. I'm not sure what'll happen from a suspension standpoint.

On reflection, I would not give away two R-1 picks.

No 2024, unless we maybe can get their 2024 R-2.

It's not exactly like HOU has leverage, and its leverage is declining as each day passes.

Negotiate harder, take BPA (probably D picks) this year in R-1 and R-2 and I am in.
