DontTazeMeBro
I see this a lot when a team has a lot of injuries in a season. I’ve never heard what the strength coach did or should’ve done to prevent those injuries. Or data for certain strength and conditioning coaches having more or less injuries over the years. I’ve always thought they were more responsible for the things in their title. Getting players strong enough and conditioned enough. Not molding players bodies so the ligaments in their knees don’t tear. To me it seems part laziness and part being completely intolerant of the unexplainable. biggie.
Because people want a hard explanation and hate admitting some things happen due to bad luck. No amount of SC is going to prevent injuries. Most injuries occur because a body part bends in a way it's not supposed to. Trojan
Probably a relevant article: https://medium.com/@jonisensel/want-your-nfl-teams-strength-conditioning-coach-fired-c1eb236b6a6b The line "In other words, too many coaches are attached to their lifetimes of wisdom that may or may not be ideal" kinda wraps up the majority argument. Some programs are much more modern than others.
AlexGreen#20
People don't understand how to deal with disappointment and rather than chalking things up to the inevitability of bad luck, they want a change.
CP3MVP
“They need to fire the strength and condition coaches Bro” ive heard that my whole life lol
Soko
Can definitely see how an archaic or over-taxing weight/conditioning program could have negative effects on injuries. Can also definitely see that I do not have the perspective or information to determine whether that’s the case for any given team, lol. EDIT: I think it comes after teams have multiple seasons of constant injuries. Still can be (bad) luck, but gets a little odd after awhile. Teams that are consistently outliers probably have something else going on other than bad luck, but even then, hard for anyone outside to really say one way or another. FrantikRam
Under McVay the Rams have been remarkably healthy relative to the rest of the league. McVay cites Reggie Scott as a HUGE reason for this. It's absolutely more than luck. Coming up with specific plans for each player, using tracking systems to see how much stress is put on joints and giving general input on how difficult to make practices in general. It's amazing that in 2022 people are still just saying it's about luck. Teams employ people to help manage these things and like anything else in life.....some people are better than others.

43M
I dont blame them, and I dont actually many fans that do. That being said, you cant completely dismiss the strength and conditioning element in injuries.

You can’t prevent injuries in football. It’s impossible. But you can minimize certain things like soft tissue problems. One of the few things Chip Kelly did right.
Wyld Stallyns
Good strength and conditioning can lead to less soft tissue injuries. Based on data from the 2021 preseason, soft tissue injuries are at a 5 year high https://www.nfl.com/_amp/2021-preseason-injury-data-key-takeaways

BigTrav
Yeah it's so stupid. It comes about when one team in particular has a run of bad luck on injuries. But it's just that - BAD LUCK Do you actually thinking doing more clean and jerks will prevent your knee from blowing out if it's caught in a bad way? LOL
