Forge
"worked with Stafford" Correct phrase would be "neutered Matt Stafford"

Its passing game coordinator, not playcaller (which from what I remember is what he struggled with) as well. Seemed like I remember him being a positive rather than negative for Staffords development.
SkippyX
Its so weird that the Caldwell Lions had regular season success and many people think it was all on Stafford and nothing else. They were 36-28 in 4 years... as the Lions! They lost in Dallas on the Party Bus call (and 3 Stafford turnovers) Yes, they got crushed in Seattle in 2016. Stafford was a better QB with and after Jim Bob Cooter as QB coach and OC. It fell apart in 2018 but Patricia holds a good deal of blame for that. Cooter is no Brian Daboll but he's a good coach with a track record of helping a young QB get better and finding success in an NFL trash heap. Completely fair, not acting as if I paid super close attention to the Lions all those years. But I remember he was a deserved hot name that even got some HC interviews due to his work/development with Stafford for a few years there. Seemed like things fell off that last year, especially with sole playcalling duties. Was also only like 34/35 at the time.

My recollection is that Joe Lombardi was absolutely terrible, which led to Jim Bob taking over. Initially, Jim Bob did quite well, but his offense grew stale because he didn't do enough to continue evolving it. So this seems like a reasonably good hire. It's a guy who is from outside Pederson's tree, which is what I'd want to see as a Jags fan.

Limited play action, treating a guy with one of the best arms in the NFL like he was Jimmy G...it hurt my football soul

Still expect Press as the OC, but other than that I don’t think any of the hires have had ties to his time as HC in Philly outside of Breiner who just got an offensive assistant label.
