BullsandBroncos
Not sure if this is more meant for comparisons or not so move if you think it's necessary please, @ET80. To make it easy, who is the owner that is the most incompetent whether by hamstringing the team financially, being too involved in draft/FA, bringing the team bad football press, etc, but still had successful teams under them. As in a fair amount of Playoff appearances and a SB win. I'd say let's keep the time frame from 1990-Present ownership. Any owner in that period. Not sure any of that necessarily makes an owner "corrupt". Sometimes its incompetence. Sometimes its ego. On top of that, there are alot of things that take place behind close doors that we will never know. There is alot of corruption we will never be privy to. Based on the criteria provided, the closest fits would probably be the Jerry Jones and Jim Irsay....but I wouldnt necessarily call either corrupt. Both are mainly driven by ego. I guess you could throw Robert Kraft up there too given all the controversies there....but again, its a reach.
LeotheLion
Kroenke, if you only look at his McVay years to determine team success
///mcompact
Well, under the description you posted, some of that leads to me saying Jerry Jones. But he's not really corrupt, he just meddles waay too much and won't hire a real GM. He loves to be known as more than an owner, to be known as a "football guy". Every time I hear him say things like he would give or do anything to get back to the big dance, I shake my head. His ego won't allow him to let go of the reigns and bring in a real GM. He's gotten around the criticism by making the GM position a committee between himself, Baby Boy Stephen and Will McClay. Jerry still has final say but now he gets to act like it was a group decision. We will never make it far in the post season because of this. We've had talented rosters but the decisions on Coaching Hires has sucked since Parcells left. That's on the GM. That's on Jerry Jones. But in my opinion, who is a true to the word, corrupt Owner? Stan Kroenke and John "Mr. Burns" Mara. Now I brace for NYG fans responses.

Kraft to a degree with the scandals
ET80
I’m going to take it back a bit and say Bob McNair. The Texans had some minor success with him towards the end of the Gary Kubiak era and in some of the Bill O’Brien era. In that time though… he managed to defend former Panthers owner Jerry Richardson during his legal situation, referred to all players as “Inmates running the prison” and once held a team meeting to instruct his players to not be happy with Obama’s election in 2008 (which pretty much ended the relationship between the franchise and LT Duane Brown and RB Arian Foster). McNair brought football back to Houston - so he’ll have a soft spot to a lot of people in the city. Those who really look at his actions would see someone who isn’t really worth such praise.
Wyld Stallyns
Irsay had one arrest for driving under the influence of prescription medication and people still talk about him as if he is an addict. Outside of that arrest, the AFC championship banners (I’m not sure of his involvement) and praising Ryan Grigson as “better then Bill Polian” and giving him a contract extension. I can’t think of many more things he’s done that’ve really embarrassed the organization. I would put Dan Snyder up there over Jerry Jones because Jerry had Super Bowl rings and a lot of influence in the owners meetings. But of course Snyder hasn’t really had success sooooo.

Interesting. I remembered something going on with Brown and Foster but couldn't remember what it was about because I was turning 15 mid season that year 😅

The weird thing about McNair is I feel he’s the one owner who doesn’t care about winning a Super Bowl. He’s all about running a business. As long they are kind of good and sell tickets, seems all good with him. Dude kept BoB around way too long.
