Seymour stuck out like a sore thumb for me. I legitimately screamed out for joy for each and every one of these... except Seymour.

Is he not a HOFer though? 3 first team All-Pros, 2 second team, was the rock of the D-Line before Wilfork showed up, and was generally dominant for a good chunk of a decade.

Thoughts? I have no objections to those elected this year, but dang, Zach Thomas needs to get elected soon. I'd hope with Mills breaking through, Thomas will as well. Kinda surprised that DeMarcus Ware wasn't elected first ballot.

I think history has not been as kind on Thomas. I think he gets in on his accolades eventually, but I feel like there is some pushback

I always thought Bryant Young was a hall of very good player. I also I think I would take Kevin Williams (Vikings DT) career over his in terms of being HOF worthy.

Edit: Players like Geno Atkins and Suh are also pretty comparable, and I don't think those guys are going to get in.

I think Seymour was a great player with a HOF Resume but wasn't a HOFer. I truly look at Seymour as a guy who AP voters frequently voted for because he was part of the Patriots machine. I look at his and Aaron Smith's careers and they're not that different other than Seymour was a Pro Bowl and All-Pro guy because he was a member of the most dominant team of the era. I just never saw Seymour as a "take a game over" kind of guy.

So Young over Ware and Butler in before Woodson?

Ok…

Strategic voting. Young and Butler aren't better than Ware and Woodson per se, but they've been waiting longer. It's like their 10th year on the ballot. They get in now, Ware and Woodson can wait a year. Making the Hall on your 2nd go around is still much more honorable than the 10th or 12th time on the ballot, so just let the older guys who deserve it get in while the studs wait a little longer.

How so?

Just a feeling from conversing with various people at different times. I feel like there is this group of people who thinks that all he did was make a bunch of empty tackles
