Old Guy
I see how you are getting everybody back and the math works. I'm not sure on some of these contracts though. Unless Adams deal is fully guaranteed, I don't see it happening. Not fond of the draft to be honest. Logan Hall is a guy without a position as far as I can tell. Played interior in college but too small to hold up there in the NFL. Is he athletic enough to play EDGE in the NFL? Not sure. You put a lot of time into it and will give you props. DISPLAIMER: I'm not a draft guru so you may have actually nailed it.
squire12
Effect on the 2023 cap Over the cap has GB with $118M in cap space for 2023 currently. that is based off a projected cap of $225M Lots of the contracts in this mock are set up to allow roster bonus/salary to be shifted around to provide needed maneuverability on future years. As you can see below. The extensions and pushing money out will come at a cost at some point. Whether that is the right decision is open for debate. I am sure GB and Russ Ball have looked at a few dozen scenarios. I agree on Hall. I liked what I saw at the Senior Bowl, but he might be a bit light for a true DL and not sure he has the athletic traits as a true EDGE. Plus, they'll probably use void years to spread it out. Also, don't like how badly it's backloaded. I mentioned back in February that I thought a 3 year deal with 2 void years at $75M with a $35M signing bonus seemed in the ballpark. If the Packers can get Rodgers to commit to 4 years, then 4 years would make sense. I think Adams' deal expiration will match that of Rodgers' timeline IF Rodgers is back. ThatJerkDave
I like it. I am going to throw a couple of nit-picks in. I would like to see another swing at WR. I liked what I saw of Doubs, and he returns punts, which is a bonus. To do this, I think I would not take Cook, we have 4 pretty darn good RBs already. Do we really need to add another 4th round pick to the mix? Or perhaps cut Preston and use that money to bring back both MVS and Mercilus. The other thing I see is that Jones will be on a cap number of almost $20m for 2023. Dealing with those contracts should help us a little. The big issue for me is the 2023 numbers is that Gary is not under contract, neither is Savage or Jenkins. I could live without Savage or Jenkins but Gary needs to be under contract. 2023 will be tough if we keep Adams but I don't see us keeping Rodgers if we don't keep Adams. Yes Jones could be released, which is part of the reasoning on drafting Cook as a Jones replacement in 2023. 1 hour ago, Brit Pack said: The big issue for me is the 2023 numbers is that Gary is not under contract, neither is Savage or Jenkins. Those cap space numbers are as it stands currently. Gary certainly get the 5th year option Savage might....safety pick is insurance on that. Jenkins would be a UFA. Is trying to retain the big pieces from 2021 for another run it 2023 worth it for 1-2 year? Your proposal increases the 2022 cap charge to $14.5M which is $9M more than what I have. That gets tight on bringing other back. GB has started to use the voided years on smaller deals. Will be interesting to see if they do on a bigger deal like Adams. Edited February 13, 2022 by squire12

I am fine with not liking the draft picks. I was more interested in putting something together on how a "run it back" might look at how the 2023 salary cap looks. I am not sure how much GB will use voided years on bigger contracts, still an option, but until they do so, I am hesitant to assume that is the route they will go. as of now, my preferred players at a few position groups that might be available in the 25-40 pick range Travon Walker Jermaine Johnson -- though less likely with his senior bowl performance Devonte Wyatt Perrion Winfrey Daniel Faalele Drake London David Bell Garrett Wilson I tried to go a bit outside that list after the trade down. Sandy
Excellent effort and overall I think you've got a functional and realistic offseason mapped out here. Recent reports are trending for a Rodgers return. Only Thing you might be short on right now are void years on a lot of these contracts to ensure we're in good shape at least for next year too but otherwise this matches closely with recent reports out of management to go into the same full-court-press the Saints went into with Brees. As for the picks I'm not yet much of an authority on the draft, but I do like the picks of Hall and Rickert, even if I feel the draft process will make them each rise a bit higher than where they're ranked now.
