Matthew Stafford is a better QB than John Elway was.

Comparing QB stats from the 80s-90s to right now is...............to be nice......................dumb.

If this is true, then the GOAT QB conversation starts and stops at Dan Marino.

His rating of 108.9 in 1984, if we adjusted for average passer rating by era, would be by far and away the best season ever.

By such a margin that the one season alone - along with his subsequent good years - is enough to shoot him way up.

The alternative is that we just accept Elway (and Aikman) were average and both worse than Stafford (and several other QBs playing today).

So then maybe that regular season Marino had should be considered the best QB season ever.  I'm ok with that if talking regular season.

He's clearly not the GOAT though
