Are the New York Jets finally ready to take flight?

• 4th overall pick of the 1st round.

• 10th overall pick of the 1st round.

▪︎

• 3rd overall pick of the 2nd round (35).

• 6th overall pick of the 2nd round (38).

▪︎

• 5th overall pick of the 3rd round (69).

▪︎

• 6th overall pick of the 4th round (109).

• 12th overall pick of the 4th round (115).

▪︎

• 3rd overall pick of the 5th round (145).

• 20th pick of the 5th round (162).

This (above) creates for the NFL's #1 draft capital.

☆ Not since dating back to 1984 have the Jets ever had 4 picks within the first 38 draft slots (1984 = 4 picks within the top 39 draft slots) and/or not since year 2000 of 22 years ago have the Jets ever featured 4 picks within the first two rounds (2000 = 4 picks within top 27 slots) .

☆ 2022 is also the first time in Franchise History where New York will feature 9 draft picks within just the first 5 rounds alone.

☆ This draft can become Franchise-Altering for my Jets especially considering the fact that not since 1978 of 44 years ago has an NY Jets coaching staff had an opportunity to coach the Senior-Bowl (big time opportunity here) .

▪︎ (along with top 5 available salary cap space).

If you guys were in charge of the Jets draft which players would you draft?

I highly doubt either of those guys will be available at those picks, but they'd be fantastic choices if they were.

It’s too hard to do this before the combine and reading about who teams like. You’re probably right.

Jets have lots of draft capital but unfortunately this year's draft is lacking in high-end prospects. Not many of this year's top 10 would have gone in last year's top 10.

First priority for Jets should be to support Wilson. Give him weapons and protection. You'll likely have to find them in free agency. OT is an option at pick 4 but Hamilton or Thibodeaux would be good picks too.

Something like sign a WR1 in free agency, along with an upgrade on the interior O-line and re-signing Moses and Berrios.

Draft Thibs and Gardner in round 1, David Bell and Kenneth Walker in round 2, and back to defense the rest of the draft.

• 4th overall pick of the 1st round. - Trade to Denver for 9 + 40 (pick 4 sort of stinks if Hutch+Thib go top 3, unless you think Hamilton is going to transform your whole D or one of Ekonwu/Cross is going to be a stud LT)

• 9th overall pick of the 1st round. Treylon Burks WR

• 10th overall pick of the 1st round. Cross or Ekwonu or Penning OT

• 3rd overall pick of the 2nd round (35). Pitre or Brisker S

• 6th overall pick of the 2nd round (38). Cameron Thomas DE

• 8th overall pick of the 2nd round (40). Boye Mafe DE

• 5th overall pick of the 3rd round (69). Mykael Wright CB

• 6th overall pick of the 4th round (109). Otito Ogbannia DT

• 12th overall pick of the 4th round (115). Erik Ezukanma WR

• 3rd overall pick of the 5th round (145). Ty Chandler RB

• 20th pick of the 5th round (162). Diego Fagot SLB

Sign Njoku or Dalton Schultz + Allen Robinson in FA. Try to sign a decent CB too. Maybe a mid-range DE like Ogbah as well. I don't really remember what D the Jets run.

I want to build around Zach Wilson. Kid had the 4th highest single season NCAA QB Rating of All-Time as a Junior of 2020.

Round 1: Ikem Ekwonu (RG).

Round 1: Drake London (WR).

Round 2: Trey McBride (TE).

Round 2: Breece Hall (RB).

Go Defense with our next 5 picks throughout rounds 3-5.

QB: Zach Wilson.

LT: Mekhi Becton.

LG: Alijah Vera-Tucker.

RG: Ikem Ekwonu.

WR 1: Drake London.

WR 2: Elijah Moore.

WR 3: Corey Davis.

TE: Trey McBride.

RB 1: Breece Hall.

RB 2: Michael Carter.

Have an awesome Free Agency (top 5 available salary cap space) and I think the Offensive building blocks are now in place for Zach Wilson to develop and progress.

And in Free Agency go after another WR such as Allen Robinson or Chris Godwin and throw the $ @ TE Dalton Schultz in order to give Zach Wilson an elite TE duo (as N.E provided Tom Brady with Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez).

Then make 2023s Offseason all about Robert Saleh's Defense (username).

This is who I have the Jets getting right now, I assume Stingley will do great in his workouts and has the most upside at corner but that could be changed if Gardner runs well but my guess is he might not workout so well athletically.  Jameson is a gamble but before the injury he was easily the best WR and most explosive WR in the draft, if he could workout probably runs a 4.3 40 and has a vertical of 37+", could be considered risk with both but positionally I think they fit.  Then Johnson could be way too low but will see how he works out, he could go a lot higher than that, and Muma could be a steal that guy is a super athletic LB who could play a variety of positions.

1st
  4.    New York Jets - Derek Stingley Jr LSU JR CB
 10.    New York Jets via (Seattle Seahawks) -  Jameson Williams Alabama JR WR

2nd
35.   New York Jets - Jermaine Johnson Florida State SR LB/DE
 38.   New York Jets via (Carolina Panthers)  - Chad Muma Wyoming SR LB

3rd
 69.   New York Jets - Trey McBride Colorado State SR TE

4th
109. NY Jets via (Carolina Panthers) - Otito Ogbonnia UCLA SR DT
115. NY Jets via (Minnesota Vikings) - Rasheed Walker Penn State RS JR OT

5th
145. NY Jets - Emeka Emezie NC State RS SR WR
162. NY Jets via (Pittsburgh Steelers) - James Cook Georgia SR RB

Will be curious if they got OL or not early, they already invested so much not sure they get more but maybe they do.  And no surprise Becton is having injury issues, I said when he came out of the draft his lower legs were so damn thin and proportions of his body are all off.  That is why I like Faalele, at least that dude is thick and big throughout his legs, ankles, arms, hands, feet everything is far better proportioned for a big dude.

My priorities would be CB1, WR1, and DE, in that order, along with FS if Marcus Maye doesn't get back to 90+%.  Alternatives in case that player is gone.

At #4, CB Derek Stingley Jr. (or CB Sauce Gardner).

At #10, WR Garret Wilson (or Edger George Karlaftis).

At #35, CB Roger McCreary (or FS Daxton Hill).

At #38  DE Arnold Ebiketie (or FS Lewis Cine).

At #69, WR Wan'Dale Robinson (or WR Jalen Tolbert).

I'd want to pick up a RB such as Georgia's Zamir White or Alabama's Brian Robinson Jr. later.

5th in cap space and with 54 players signed I'd target premium OLs and a LB.

I don't get how people do not have Bonitto in the 1st round, the dude had the best pass rush win rate in the country last year and was damn good the year before.  He could be a monster in a 3/4 and could be a ILB or OLB.  Sure at the point of attack he is pretty weak getting off blocks but it is all about getting after the QB now a days and the run game is not as important it seems.

Also Faalele in the 3rd is a total steal, at worst no way he gets out of the 2nd round.  Sure at times he struggle at the senior bowl and other times he absolutely dominated and totally engulfed the pass rusher.

I’ve read he’s ahead of schedule in his rehab but I find it difficult to believe he’s going to be ready to run full speed 4-5 months after tearing his ACL. Teams are going to have to wait on medical evaluations that he’s on track for a full recovery and his game tape.

True but on the field in terms of production no WR was as dangerous as he was last year and if it was not for the injury I feel he would easily be the 1st WR off the board.  Dude could take the top off a defense and what he did in the return game helped show that elite speed, only 10 kick returns and 2 were brought back for TDs averaging 35 yards per return.

His upside is massive and if a team has to wait a year so what, especially a team with multiple 1st round picks.  But maybe they are fine with their WRs on the roster though so maybe it does not happen.

Morgan Moses and Duvernay-Tardif are free agents so maybe they do go with that NC State OL instead, will see.

Looking at it more maybe the Jets absolutely go Ikem Ekwonu at 4 then Gardner at 10.  They have a lot of free agent OL and that RT could be an issue as could OG and Okwonu could fix both potentially and could be great at either position.  Giants would sure be pissed if they took him that is for sure.

I dunno. Faalele might not be good. He does not move like Jordan Mailata. Likely a pure RT that only really helps you in the run game.
