biggie.
What are examples of coaches that teams held onto for way too long? Classic examples are Marvin Lewis and Jeff Fisher.

vikingsrule
Mike Zimmer this year. Was a disaster from the start. Wasn’t talking to the GM by the end of it.

I think nothing on this subject anymore. WAIT! David Culley. David Culley should have been fired immediately after his introductory press conference.

ThatJaxxenGuy
Brian Billick completely lost the locker room by the time he was out the door. seems like a really nice guy though, it just wasn’t working.
Trojan
Mike McCarthy Might be heresy, but maybe Don Shula? He retired in the mid-90s, but you have to think the team was itching to Jerry Jones-Tom Landry it if he didn't retire and probably considered it the last couple years. The Dolphins had a real window to win with Marino and after the first 10 years not getting it done and the 70s being further and further into the past they probably frequently thought about if Shula had over-stayed. I'm pretty ignorant on it, but just thinking outloud. Shula consistently won in the regular season though and was the man so perhaps not. Seeing the Cowboys win in the early 90s though after a fast bottoming out and rebuild with Jimmy Johnson had to have been on the mind though and Landry only had that one bad season at the end. If the Dolphins had made the move after '88 with a prime Marino to draw a coaching candidate and team builder maybe they would have replace the Bills in the 90s lore?
