Cooper/Lawrence watch begins

Since the other thread was locked by our fun-hating Mod, here’s a new one.

Coop’s future with Dallas seems more and more in doubt.

The only way this really bothers me and it would be significant downfall here, is if Dallas doesn’t find a trade partner.

One other item of note, this may not set terribly well in the locker room.

I’m going need @DefenseWinsChampionships thoughts on this.  It’s a complicated scenario.  We have a HOF quality player whose getting paid top $.  It’s hard when you have Zeke, Coop and Dak all getting paid top $ but all underperform their contracts.  Unfortunately Zeke and Dak have guaranteed contracts.  This makes Coop the odd man out even though he’s probably the most deserving of the contract.

I hope my Jets get both Amari Cooper and Dalton Schultz because we're not only absolutely fully loaded in Top 5 Available Salary Cap Space but even more fully loaded come 2023s offseason in Available Salary Cap Space.

I'm one 🏈 who wouldn't mind taking both Amari Cooper and Dalton Schultz off of Dak Prescott's hands and putting them into the hands of soon to be 2nd year Zach Wilson.

And why wouldn't I?

Both Amari Cooper and Dalton Schultz were two big time pieces to an NFL Offensive Attack that ranked #1 in both Yards (1) and Points Scored (1).

In closing regarding Amari Cooper, Dak Prescott has great chemistry with him which is why Dak Prescott had the 5th highest QB Rating when throwing to Amari Cooper and Amari Cooper had the NFLs 5th highest Receiver Rating last year...

✓ No specific order (just based off of advanced statistics RECEIVER RATING).

(https://www.pro-football-reference.com/ is where I get mostly all my statistics from)

• DeAndre Hopkins = Receiver Rating of 133.6.

• Cooper Kupp = Receiver Rating of 124.8.

• Mike Evans = Receiver Rating of 122.6.

• Hunter Renfrow = Receiver Rating of 120.6.

(5th) Amari Cooper = Receiver Rating of 116.9.

• Ja'Marr Chase = Receiver Rating of 116.5.

• Davante Adams = Receiver Rating of 115.3.

• Justin Jefferson = Receiver Rating of 11.3.

• Tee Higgins = Receiver Rating of 110.1.

• Chris Godwin = Receiver Rating of 109.1

• Mike Williams = Receiver Rating of 108.2.

• D.K. Metcalf = Receiver Rating of 106.3.

• Deebo Samuel = Receiver Rating of 106.2.

• Tyreek Hill = Receiver Rating of 103.7.

• DeVonta Smith = Receiver Rating of 102.1

• Brandin Cooks = Receiver Rating of 95.9.

• A.J. Brown = Receiver Rating of 94.5.

• Diontae Johnson = Receiver Rating of 91.9

• CeeDee Lamb = Receiver Rating of 91.0.

• Stephon Diggs = Receiver Rating of 90.6.

• Keenan Allen = Receiver Rating of 88.0.

• Jerry Jeudy = Receiver Rating of 85.9.

• Terry McLaurin = Receiver Rating of 85.2.

• Julio Jones = Receiver Rating of 83.2.

• Odell Beckham Jr. = Receiver Rating of 79.2.

• Elijah Moore = Receiver Rating of 77.7 (my hometown homer pick).

• Chase Claypool = Receiver Rating of 77.5.

• Jarvis Landry = Receiver Rating of 62.9.

• Allen Robinson = Receiver Rating of 55.7.

• JuJu Smith-Schuster = Receiver Rating of 51.0.

PS Announcement:

This site that I'm referencing doesn't just grade any ole' slouch with elite Receiver Ratings either for example my Jets 2nd year and 2nd round disappointment WR Denzel Mims = Receiver Rating of only 55.2 (is proof in the pudding).

✓ Even in the playoffs he put up an elite Receiver Rating of 112.1 for Dak Prescott.

PS: I'm a Jets fan so in my heart I know we'll miss out on both Amari Cooper @ WR and Dalton Schultz @ TE and I'll become disappointed (once again) however Drake London/Treylon Burks WR @ #10 overall and then Trey McBride TE @ either #36 or #38 overall would have me 🔥 up (as a consolation prize).

Good luck Big-D #WhoopTheGiantsNextYear.

Spot on analysis, brother!

does Zach throw a lot of balls in the dirt?  Dak does.  Some of us refer to it as mcnabbing.  Coop could be really good if got more catchable balls thrown his way.

Yes. Zach Wilson has shown all types of signs of Rookie struggles last year balls in the dirt and balls in the stands.

Jets homerism aside if Amari Cooper does escape Dallas I think he'd absolutely love playing in Jacksonville alongside of Trevor Lawrence because I think Trevor Lawrence is special man (just drafted into a crap 1-15 team) but Trevor Lawrence having an Amari Cooper means Amari Cooper gets Targeted 150x because even Marvin Jones got targeted 120x last year.

And if JAX can improve their O-Line, Trevor Lawrence will finally have time to sit in the pocket and scan the field.

As for Cooper specifically; he had the 18th best targets in the NFL with the #63 best catches. Which one of them held up their end of the deal?

I find this odd.

Your offense, which was a liability down the stretch, is going to lose a key player.

You don't need great WRs to win, so it is not a calamity, but the Wonder Boy will need to improve playcalling and our OL will need to take steps to improve at a minimum.
