Who is the best QB in your opinion, right now? We'll do this up until 25, or maybe 32. 

Disclaimer:

Some people get best confused. It's not just who had the best 2021 season. It's not career accolades. And it has nothing to do with age. It's who you think is the best in the league. Right now. Heading into 2022.

This round will be nearly 72 hours as I'm going to be a bit busy. Perfect round for 72 hours though as Watson vs Dak vs Lamar vs Stafford should be a solid debate. 

After this round, we are going to start doing 24 hour speed rounds on most rounds, depending my availability.

As a quick reminder, ANY/A is the most correlated with Wins, MVPs and overall QB contribution. Additional reminder, that when Dak is playing, he has led the #1 offense 3 years in a row (was #1 in 2020 before injury). That when Dak went out, our offensive production fell between 20-35% depending on your favorite metric. 

 

*I know Watso/Dak may seem weird since Watson was top 5 before all the alleged sexual assault and missing 2021, but Dak has only played 6 more games. In those 6 games he has 2600 more yards, 17 more TDs and is still higher rated in the all important ANY/A.

My vote will likely be Deshaun Watson. I'm going to wait a while to vote, just in case Stafford and Dak are the top two vote getters on the final day with Watson being too far behind to catch up, then I will cast a vote for Dak in that scenario (yes, gotta be a little strategic!). 

Why I would like to vote Deshaun Watson:

Watson is easily the best QB of the remaining QB's in my opinion. The current six in front of him you can actually argue are better than him even without the off the field stuff. However, without the off the field stuff, there is absolutely no way Dak, Stafford, and Lamar are better than Deshaun Watson. 

Availability is not an issue here. Remember, you are not casting a vote for 2021 season results or 2022 projections. This is who you think is the best QB right now, everything equal, no off the field concerns, playing today. 

Watson's last season he showed he was probably the #3 or #4 QB in the league behind Mahomes, Rodgers, and possibly Wilson (imo) at that point in time. However, fast forward, with some rust, and emergence of other QB's, #7 is definitely a very very fair spot for him. Personally I'd have him #6 behind Rodgers, Mahomes, Allen, Wilson, and Burrow. 

Watson is a great QB who is probably the best in the league at extending plays (maybe ever), solid arm (although not great like Mahomes/Allen/Herbert/etc), very good at going through progressions, and one of the best deep ball accuracy QB's in the league. And Watson is just... clutch. Dating back to college.

One additional note - specifically for my Rams fans (@FrantikRam) - me saying Dak is clearly better than Stafford (he is) =/= me suggesting Stafford isnt an excellent talent. I can almost 100% guarantee I have been rooting for Stafford for at least a decade longer than you. He is from Dallas and was a prodigy since he hit puberty. Youve liked him for 12 months. Ive liked him for 12+ years. 

But that doesnt change that he isnt as good as Dak. Which honestly isnt an insult. 12 months ago people considered him a ~15ish ranked QB. Now he will be top 9 in virtually every ones opinion. I, for one, am really happy he is getting his due. 

I agree with the list as its played out so far - mostly. And if Dak is 7, Stafford 8 - or vice versa - I still think the list is pretty solid. Its a matter of inches between 5-9. I do think Herbert is going to pull away as Josh Allen has.

Dallas would've won the SB with Matthew Stafford because he was amazing throughout the entire postseason all while Dak Prescott wet the bed during the Wildcard game and Dak Prescott absolutely and busted vs the same 49ers team who Matthew Stafford destroyed in the playoffs.

PS: Matthew Stafford isn't from Texas. He's born and raised in Tampa, Florida and only went to High school in Dallas. 

Dallas Cowboys would've won the SB if not for Dak Prescott + Matthew Stafford.

Put Matthew Stafford on the Cowboys since 2016 and put Dak Prescott on the DETROIT LIONS since 2016...

And you'd be singing a different tune here, wouldn't you?
