It’s just really unfortunate that we had to have an injury at the one position on the team where the only backup also happens to be a starter at another position. It’s good to know that they are familiar with the concept of signing veteran FAs with starting experience elsewhere for depth roles. When they were fiddling around with a guy like Donovan Jeter — who might be a fine development prospect but probably is not a cat you want to just hand 18 snaps right out of the box — I started getting concerned that they really were absolutely tapped out for any kind of “more than league minimum” funds. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I know people will hate this but, they could play Bostic at MLB on run downs & pull him off on 2nd/3rd & long and then go nickel. Bostic is at least a run stuffer. He asked out, they didn't give him the contract he wants. He is better than our entire LB room combined. The smart move would be to add him to our woeful defense. He definitely was a good signing that we made after Mathis went down & he looks like a keeper as a back up NT. He doesn’t offer really anything as far as pass rush goes but he’s 320 pounds and is stout vs the run. Hopefully next year Phil Mathis comes back & has a solid year as our 3rd DT playing behind Allen & Payne while Ridgeway gets sprinkled in some as our 4th DT. 1 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
