First four picks being defense would have me cheering and the rest of this forum seething.

Playing around with the draft simulators I find that you can pretty easily snag some excellent defensive talent if you forego WRs until later.

There will be b!+<ing if we leave Olave or another highly-regarded receiver on the board after both our first round picks. But, actually, spending a second round pick on a receiver is pretty much what the Packers do.

I prefer this one. Only did 2 rounds. Now, I see no way those two guys I got in round 1 fall that far.

22: R1 P22 CB Derek Stingley - LSU
28: R1 P28 EDGE Jermaine Johnson - Florida State
53: R2 P21 WR George Pickens - Georgia
59: R2 P27 DL Perrion Winfrey - Oklahoma

I'm good with picking defence with both of our first rounders.

Really need a receiver in the first four picks though. Ideally I would double dip in round two and get two of them there. Stick to what has been working. And I would follow up with two OL in round 4.

I would prefer to grab one OT in the first but dang I dont know if I could pass up on these two. Our secondary could compete for one of the best in the league and our DL would be stout. Grabbing Edge in the second is another minor weakness filled. Outside of the #2 ILB this defense would be stacked at every postion.

My only concern is our weak oline. Crappy run game followed with Rodgers throwing to average targets with below average time is not going to go well. What are people projecting our starting oline to look like?

Love reading the mocks and appreciate the effort!

I mean I wouldn't be mad but it would make me question what the hell we are doing considering we have like no WRs under contract right now.

I feel the same.  And I like this one even better:

I think the line will be just fine.  We are not going to be as deep as we have been in the past.  Losing Patrick and Turner hurts on that front, and I am counting Jenkins out for 2022, and anything we do get from him this season will be a bonus.  I think that the line looks like:

Bakhtiari - Runyan - Myers - Newman - Nijman

And that is before the draft to inject some talent, and not knowing the development from other holdovers.  We probably get a year two jump from Newman, and Myers, as well as a second year starting from Runyan.  This front office has also added cheap veterans post draft to fill spots as needed.  Bakhtiari is better than Jenkins at LT.  The interior guys have more experience.  The only perceived downgrade will be from Turner to Nijman, but we haven't seen Nijman at RT yet.   Add another Runyan or Newman type in the 4th for depth, and someone that can play RT if Nijman cannot, and I am perfectly fine with this line.  It doesn't have to be a premium investment.

This is what scares me. We're continuing to go all in with a weaker oline with unknowns all over the board. Come playoff time, every team we play will have a stout DL and pass rush. I'd hate to see another year where we miss the SB because our oline is underwhelming. This needs to be our strength moving forward.

The only proven above average player out of that group is Bakh and who knows what he returns to. We gotta draft a RT in the first 2 rounds and possibly an IOL for depth in later rounds.

Move Jermaine to pick 22. I honestly am not a fan of Stingley. He had an amazing year his freshman year and played a lot of press man. Struggled in coverage the last two years along with injuries. The little bit of film I watched he tends to do a lot of finger pointing. I think 4 CBs is too deep to be spending another 1st. I love Daxton because he can play anywhere in the secondary. 3rd safety, slot, outside, etc. So outside of Stingley that is a darn good hall.

It will be a fun experiment.

Defenses won't have any possible clue who to focus their attention on, so we would see how good Rodgers/LaFleur really are.

Plus, we could just do what we did in 201_ when we drafted MVS/ESB etc. Draft the best WR available starting in 3 and ending in 5.

The concept of "let's have the worst group of WRs in the league just to really see how good our QB and coach are" is the logic of a sociopath.
