Nope, just got enough common sense to know that a couple more weeks of rest couldn't possibly have hurt

VD's article states that this injury is likely chronic and a result of damage/the spur that was already present. What happens if he sits out a few more weeks? He feels good for one more game, then he's hurt again? What good is that going to do?

The reality is Sammy has never been healthy his entire career in the NFL. If he wasn't so insanely injury prone, he may have lived up to his draft position, but he was never able to do that... Unfortunate, but he was injury prone coming out of college and that never changed in the NFL. His talent level was obviously very high and he had the skill set to be successful, but just could never stay on the field long enough to do it.

according to Zimmer, Bradford recently spent "thousands and thousands of his own money" searching for treatment that would help, trying to avoid surgery.

a week or two more off wouldn't have made any difference, not to mention Bradford himself felt healthy enough to play.

Howie Trollsman strikes again

gotta admit, he took advantage of a great situation.

and the playing time that Wentz had with Bradford out of the way, as another person on Twitter speculated, may have helped his development tremendously. it's showing this year.

Well done, Philly!

Zimmer said Case Keenum, who has gone 4-2 as a starter in relief of Bradford, will start Sunday at Washington, and Bridgewater will be the backup. Zimmer indicated there will be continued competition for the starting job as Bridgewater gets more comfortable in his return.

Zimmer: “We’ll see where we are at, where we’re going. Case has done great. We’ll just keep going from there and see how this thing all plays out.”

Good call.

Keenum is winning, which isn’t a quarterback stat but which sure as hell is relevant to whether a guy should be on the field. So Keenum continues as the Vikings' starter, until he gives the Vikings a reason to make a change. It’s a cannon with only one ball, and they need to pick the right time to fire it. During a recent visit to PFT Live, Hall of Fame coach Tony Dungy compared the situation to the ’72 Dolphins, who knew when to replace backup Earl Morrall with starter Bob Griese after Morrall won 11 straight games.

The Vikings, like the Dolphins 45 years ago, have a single shot to make the right call. If they go with Bridgewater and he struggles, it will be hard to go back to Keenum. So they’ll need to stick with Keenum until he struggles. If he ever does. Whatever happens the rest of the way, things will get very interesting in 2018, when Keenum, Bridgewater, and Bradford each become free agents. With all presumably hoping to play, the Vikings ultimately may be able to keep only one of them.

Yeah, it would be smart to ride out Keenum. If he plays good enough to win then I wouldn't rush it.

Remember when Bradford looked amazing in Week 1?

I member.

Seriously I don't even know how he got hurt.

Residual damage from his past surgeries is catching up to him, basically. After week 1, his knee just swelled up and caused a lot of pain. It wasn't any particular hit, just the strain of playing an NFL game.
