Blaze
John McClain has announced his retirement from the Chronicle. Honestly, I think it's long overdue as he began to really lose touch with lead stories in the area to guys like Aaron Wilson. Still, after 47 years, he deserves his flowers. Enjoy retirement.
Texansfan713
I know we always cracked jokes on him but honestly he wasnt a bad writer. I remember when I took a sports reporting class at UH my jr/sr year, the professor got him to come and speak to the class. He was a cool down to earth guy.

ET80
Say what you will about the guy - he’s a fixture in the Houston marketplace and a guy who was the voice of the organization for the longest time. I’d love to see him successfully get Andre Johnson into the Hall of Fame and ride off into the sunset. Would be a fitting cap to a great career.
