Have we heard a name yet? Or if there are any close contacts are in danger of missing the game?

Haven't seen anything yet.

Wow, as much as it sucks that anyone tested positive, the rams are very fortunate it was 3 practice squad players.

Im going to say this again NO HE DIDNT

He went 10/18 from 40+ in 2019, not his best, but it wasnt some obscene regression, especially since one of those most important kicks I still say was good in seattle and the officials messed up.

He was 8/12 in 2018, in his best year ever (2017) he was 18/19, but he was 5/8 in 2016 and 8/17 in 2015. So he missed an extra couple of kicks than he normally has.

Not to mention he was 100% on extra points for the first time since 2016.

And the biggest thin that McVay has been pissed about, Touchbacks, GZ had his highest % of Touchbacks on Kickoffs in his career (on the 2nd most number of KO he has ever taken)

SO all this "he sucked" and "majorly regressed" stuff is completely anecdotal, and you are all creating some revisionist history. Again, Im not calling him the best Kicker in the league, but he was still his normal self when healthy.

Where were we strapped for cash? We are sitting at over $8m in cap space right now, because we knew we were redoing those deals.

Are you telling me that we couldn't find $2m for a reliable kicker? Because the Cowboys are paying him less than that.

You can say it as many times as you want, but dropping to a 72.7 FG% after going 87.1, 95 and 86.4 the three years prior IS really regressing. I’m not sitting here saying he was the worst or that he sucked. But he regressed and wasn’t staying healthy. And while our cap is at that point now, it didn’t look like it would at the time. Again, had we taken the right kicker at the spot that we did aka Blankenship, we’d have had a young, much cheaper franchise kicker for the long term. We took the wrong guy—it happens. And it happens to be biting us in the *** but the decision to move on from Greg shouldn’t be viewed at as a dumb one.

I agree GZ had a bad year couple that with his recent injuries and paying him that much money just wasn't in the card for the Rams with the cap situation we were in this past off season. As for Blankenship if he had any leg strength at all he would have been a great pick because he's very good on XP's and pretty impressive inside 45 yards. But he can't kick longer than that and his leg is so weak he doesn't even do kickoffs. The guy we signed if he can regain his college accuracy will be a much better kicker than Blankenship with his limitations IMO.

Sure you can make it look bad with percentages, but this isn’t like a QBs completion %. It’s a difference of 2 FGs made from the previous year. That’s what you’re calling some sort of major drop off and worthy of moving on from. That’s just ridiculous.

Especially when you take into consideration ALL of his kicks, because XPs aren’t just chip shots anymore. And as I continue to point out he made all of those. If you account for all kicks he went from 92% in ‘18 to 88% in ‘19. Sure it’s a dip, but he didn’t fall off a cliff.

And let’s keep ignoring the kickoff issues we’re having

I just want a kicker that can kick at least 45 yards in windy condition without missing one.

Possibly lost in the mix leading up to the game, and honestly likely very minor, but we did claim Derek Rivers off waivers after the Patriots released him.

https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2020/11/23/rams-patriots-derek-rivers-claim-waivers/

The athletic profile has always been there for Rivers, dude just has had issues staying healthy; multiple season-ending injuries, one of which was a torn ACL.  Could just be a flier, could be a pickup to pick his brain on Belichick's defense since we face the Pats coming up (and Belichick embarrassed McVay in that Super Bowl game).  Could also be an indicator that Ogbo isn't gonna be back from his elbow injury anytime soon.
