Depth signing for RT and RG. I like it as a depth piece and spot starter at RT if McGary has issues.

Easily 10x better than our current LG. No matter how much some try to defend Mayfield he’s the worst lineman in NFL history in terms of giving up pressure hits and sacks

He's a solid football player with a lot of talent.   He had a tough year last year on a dysfunctional team.  

But his over all play is pretty solid at both guard and OT when healthy.   Not great, but definitely good enough to start and be an average NFL player.

Bears fans are really down on him because of an incident where he chided Jenkins after Jenkins got a 15 yard penalty defending Fields.

Seattle fans hated him before that because he had some really untimely penalties in big games and didn't live up to his draft status.

Ryan Pace works for Falcons now and definitely knew this.

He's probably competing with McGary at RT, tbh. Mayfield getting replaced by a 2nd or 3rd round pick this year.

Even if he's playing RT he's still playing LG better than Mayfield would. Think I'd rather have him at RT and literally nothing at LG than seeing that kid put on a jersey again.

Im pretty sure if Ifedi could take over RT then we can slide Kaleb to LG and it would improve both spots.  Kaleb doesn't do well with speed rushes but he is a really solid road grader and does much better against power guys.   I think he could actually be a much better OG than a RT with his strengths while the position limits his weaknesses.

I’m all for any experiment that takes Mayfield out of the equation. I wouldn’t even want him delivering water if we can help it.

lol same and i have actually thought this of kaleb since we drafted him i always viewed him as a better OG prospect than OT. I felt he would be a avg at best RT or a above avg to pro bowl OG just based on how he plays and what he does well.

I mean, someone has to play LG. McGary if he's average as a pass protector there is a massive upgrade. And he's an average pass protector at RT so I don't see why he'd be less than that at OG where it's easier. I think his run blocking would be a massive upgrade there though and Hennessy (Who's good, but like Todd McClure level, not Alex Mack level) would thrive.

I mean, Ifedi is a great pass blocking RT. He's just meh as a run blocker. But that's ok by me. Protect the QB. McGary is a great run blocking player, but has trouble pass blocking against speed rushers. Move him inside to guard and he should be better. It's worth a shot.
