Raidersfan1
What makes a Pittsburgh Steeler? They've already put in that work. If they were the best, they stayed put and rode out the wave. You just need to stick true to the formula. Ohio State vs Michigan Somewhere Coach LeBeau is smiling ear to ear. The Michigan Wolverines have some of the best jerseys in all of sports. One of my favorite teams. Shout out to Steve Breaston and Woodland Hills. Yet, the Buckeyes come in at a 5:1 clip over the Wolverines in terms of success. Ohh, okay... Devin Bush. We're really gonna test the theory. Yet, the theory reigns true. The Buckeyes are the premier players in the country. If you wanna go Big Ten, and you're the best in the country, you go to Ohio State. Gimme Buckeyes over Wolverines. USC vs UCLA Another one. And we have a theme brewing. The Trojans have been very kind to the Steelers over the years. Yet, those Bruins you get stuck with Kris Farris, Danny Farmer, Bruce Davis, etc. The Trojans are the premier players in the country. Gimme Trojans over Bruins. Think about it. Trojans eat bears for breakfast. Florida vs Florida State Somewhere out there someone is thinking this is 54-46. For my money. I want Seminoles by a wide margin. We can entertain Starks, Gilbert, and Pouncey. These guys had a certain level of skill. Gators are just not hard enough. Hillbillies hang some meat on a stick and these dinosaurs are so dumb they keep getting capped in the skull. They're these small, skilled guys running around, and if they were good enough, they would go to Ohio State. Those Noles were overlooked by those mighty Gators. They got a chip on their shoulder and they're ticked off. Gimme those Noles. Seminoles over Gators. 7-3 As you peel back the layer... Certain themes reign true. Lower SEC: Texas A&M, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina, Alabama (honestly, questionable) There's just a certain "hardness" "toughness" to these schools. They haven't dabbled much with the Gamecocks. But you already know... Upper SEC: Tennessee, Kentucky, Vanderbilt It's just not "hard" enough to be Steel.... It just cannot endure the hardship of the smeltering process. How about the "Big East"? Miami? VA Tech, BC, UCONN, Syracuse. Honestly, if I want a "Big East" type player, I'll go to the Big Ten. Because if he were the best, he'd go there. BIG TEN This is the heart beat. And it starts with Ohio State keeping that pulse. Almost every school works here. Certain schools are left out like Illinois, Indiana, and Purdue. Why would he go to Illinois, if he was good enough to play at Michigan? You can get away with a Chukky Okobi but you know what you signed up for. Some guys improve and really hone in their craft, which is why Iowa and Wisconsin have surpassed Michigan. Even Michigan State is better than Michigan in Pittsburgh lore. The Tomlin Effect Under no circumstances, do you travel to Maryland, VA Tech, Virginia (Heath Miller exception to the rule). You do not travel South of the Mason-Dixon line until you are safely in the South when you end up in North Carolina. Mountain West San Diego State. There's just somin about that red and BLACK that's so strong. A lot of these schools work. You know who doesn't work? Boise State. Soffff There's also the random small school effect. Sam Houston State. But you can't go too random. Jamain Stephens. North Carolina A&T. Honestly, would you believe Chad Scott went to Maryland? Maybe go down to Tusculum. Liberty. Yikes... But you see Alabama A&M works. That's strong. What about the PAC 12? Generally, pretty soft outside of SC. But I bet Utah works for defense and Colorado has been pretty solid. Which makes me question my Arizona State Dohnovan West pick. Maybe he's better suit for Miami. Maybe have to slide Cam Taylor-Britt in the third round. Nebraska. BIG XII Moving on... Some schools are becoming less random... Louisiana Lafayette. Not sure I go Max Mitchell though. They are losing a bit of the mystique. MAC Premier players like Ben and DJ have been good. You must be weary of the Dri Archer and Sutton Smith effect. Cincinnati seems like a perfect match. It's San Diego State-like. But the problem is rivalry. Bearcats are too close to Bengals. Cats! Beavers you're off the board. Ridder.. let's hope you weren't even on it. Some schools they haven't really touched. North Carolina works. Arkansas - I'm intrigued. Seems too Upper SEC for my liking. My Steelers DNA: Ohio State, Big Ten (minus U of I, IU, Purdue, and Michigan), Georgia, Florida State, South Carolina, LSU, USC, Texas A&M, Random Small Schools equal opportunity, diversity, and deliverance Avoid like the plague: UCLA, TomlinU- Maryland, VA Tech Just don't be too random now...
