Holmes as talked about HBC and wanted to do them a solid, but more likely he's getting into the good graces with Deion Sanders for future drafts. Like you said he doesn't have a skillset that fits anything. Holmes did said he was trying to build relationships, so it does make sense in that regard. Millenhater
Vikings just took Ross. That's a flyer I would have liked to have taken.
Millenhater
Ok time to call it. Who's going to be our last pick?
Millenhater
I'm hoping for Domann or Strong.

Or maybe Sewell just to give the PR team something to write about.
Louis Friend
DB Chase Lucas, probably a slot corner. Very very raw and small.

Superduperman
I have to be honest, if either of these LB picks contributes anything beyond special teams I will be shocked. Maybe Rodriguez can be a LB/S hybrid type who has a role in certain sets but at 5'11", who's he going to cover? The Lions must really love Anzalone and still think he's going to be good for them. Either that or they are going to play so many 2 off-ball LB sets that they don't care if they have much depth. Or both. As far as I'm concerned, we still don't have a single top-level NFL linebacker on the team.

Why is Nakobe Dean worth the risk but this kid isn't, aren't they similar size? I know Dean was the heart and soul of the national champs and very highly regarded and all. As for the other dude, he will probably be able to contribute in 3-4 sets as a pass rush specialist. Who knows though, I tend to be overly optimistic. Your point remains regarding our starting talent though. Terrible.

Dean is a similar height but is built like a fire hydrant, has pass rushing skill, and displayed great leadership on a defense that was one of the best and most talented of its era. Rodriguez looks more like Miles Killebrew to me, except 3 inches shorter

So if one is built like a fire hydrant, they both are. Also, Rod has a pretty well rounded game from what I have read since his selection. davisblack
For what its worth, the Lions,Ravens and Chiefs were the only three teams that got an A+ grade for their drafts from PFF.

He's outstanding in coverage. Ross wasn't impressive this year. When you combine that with the medicals, I'm not surprised. 3 hours ago, Superduperman said: I have to be honest, if either of these LB picks contributes anything beyond special teams I will be shocked. As far as I'm concerned, we still don't have a single top-level NFL linebacker on the team. You're selling Rodriguez way short imo. I think he's going to outplay his draft status. In 2021, he put up 129 tackles, 16 TFLs, 3 sacks, 1 INT, 4 PDs, and 4 FFs. He forced 7 fumbles in 2020. You heard that right, 7 forced fumbles. Is he undersized at 5'11" 232? Yes. But he has great instincts, ran a 4.52 40, and jumped 39.5 inches. Dude is physical, explosive, very strong for his size, and has a nose for the ball. Plus, he's going to be a demon on special teams. You're not going to get Patrick Willis in the sixth round. But the Lions landed themselves a dude who can be a major contributor on special teams who also has the potential to become an above average starter at ILB. His straight-line speed, physicality, and quick processing will play on Sunday.
