Leader
From the NYPost: "To sharpen this discussion, though, the top problem hasn’t been any specific player, but rather a specific concept. The Yankees just aren’t hitting well enough lately with runners in scoring position. They went 1-for-8 in clutch situations Saturday against Rays starter Wilmer Font, a 28-year-old project who recorded his first big league victory, and four relievers. Over the aforementioned 16-game stretch, they are a terrible 13-for-102 (.127). <<IMO our pitching staff's not good enough to overcome that many RISP left on base over the long haul>> "Again, though: The Red Sox persist. So it carries some meaning that the Yankees will leave town Sunday having registered their first series defeat since they dropped two of three to the Rangers in Texas from May 21-23. They went 8-0-2 in their subsequent 10 series. The primary culprits? Brett Gardner, who owns a .622 OPS in June. Greg Bird, (.681), whose ineptitude since his return from the disabled list has all of us wondering whether the demoted Brandon Drury will get some big league time at first base soon. Gary Sanchez (.494), who got the day off Saturday and has looked better this past week, cranking a few big hits and hitting into some very loud outs"

Thats three guys plus "a lottery pick or two" for a pitcher with a 21-19 / 3.35 career ERA - who''s recent success is because he's moved his foot on the pitching rubber? Seems like alot of bodies no? Seems like alot of bodies no? Considering how long he's under team control, I'm not sure why TB would do the deal with how he's pitching this year. You'd only make that deal if you think he's playing above his abilities right now.

Hopefully we get Happ but if we don’t let’s just go Sevy CC Tanaka German Sheffield (who knows, could dominate from the start)
jrry32
Can we send Gray to the minors to work on his game? Whatever he's doing right now, it's not working. He's a complete disaster.

So undisciplined
Leader
From the NY Post: Yankees pitching prospect Justus Sheffield was named to the Futures Game on Thursday, part of MLB’s All-Star week activities. The lefty is 2-3 with a 2.61 ERA in 10 starts for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. He spent time on the DL in May with shoulder tightness, but is coming off two of his best outings. In his past two starts, Sheffield gave up just one run in 13 innings, walking three while striking out 10. While the Yankees look to make improvements to their rotation through a trade this month, the 22-year-old could prove to be an option later in the season. Leader
This starting to have a cumulative look to it........... Torres - 10 day DL. Not back till after the AllStar break. His replacement (Walker) is hitting .185 - Walkers potential replacement (Drury) is hitting .182 Sanchez - not back till after the AS break. Romine - playing but with a gimpy.......hamstring? His replacement (Higashioka) is hitting .190 Loaisiga - had a MRI on his shoulder - seeing the Doctor on Monday. Not good. His "issue" has been shoulder problems. Hicks - left todays game with leg cramps. Chapman - left todays game because of knee tendinitis. Tanaka - coming back on Tuesday. Bird - our starting first baseman - hit ninth in the order today and is hitting .198 Then there's Sonny - who will start in rotation against Baltimore. If he gets pounded by them....there are no answers on the roster. We pull a TBRays and start a bunch of bullpen guys? How pathetic that is. A good read: http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baseball/yankees/ny-sports-machado-orioles-sheffield-mazzeo-20180711-story.html If Cash wanted him this second he could. Take away our star prospects and we still have a lot of disposable guys with a ton of control. Giving up Drury and Andujar is probably close to getting him. That’s not even counting on any of our prospects. The only realistic ways we don’t get him is if 1. Balt doesn’t wanna trade in the division 2. Someone sends a top 50ish prospect plus which not idk if mant teams will do that for a rental. Baltimore is on the ropes just like Miami was. Giving them cost controlled mlb starters is huge for them.
CaliforniaKid7
Not for trading for Machado if we give up more than Andujar and Drury. No to Frazier/JF/EF/etc. Also how serious is he about not playing 3rd again? Even in NY?
