JetsandI
I know it is silly to start 2023 college prospects thread now but this is my 10,000th post and Jets have turned around for real, franchise-wise. Hence, I call it a quit. I am very interested in names in bold to start off. LB class may not be one for Jets as a lot of them are either downhill or pass rushing LB. Jets should eye on Cole Holcomb or Bobby Okereke as FA option if lucky. DT should be strong market for Jets. However, it won't be easy to sign young and solid DT as FA so draft may be their best shot at upgrading DT. 1. UGA Jalen Carter (could end up as a just run stopper) 2. Clemson Bryan Bresee (Comeback necessary in 2022) 3. Pittsburgh Calijah Kancey ( listed as 6 0 275?)4. ASU Jermayne Lole (missed 2021 season)5. WVA Dante Stills (5th year) OT may be needed if Jets don't extend Fant's stay with them or Becton's struggle to rebound back. 1. Miami Zion Nelson (soft 1st round label)2. FSU Robert Scott Jr. (Majority at RT) 3. NW Peter Skoronski (light weight) 4. OSU Paris Johnson (LT debut!) 5. Wisconsin Logan Brown (Not able to start due Tyler Beach) 6. Pitt Carter Warren (6th year) FS or general S may be a need for Jets. Signing S as FA is expensive so I dont know who will be JD's bargain cards. 1. ND Brandon Joseph (Jetsfan4life51's man crush) 2-10. Don't care C will definitely be a big need. Jets should have a plenty of choices but I don't know which fits at the moment. 1. ND Jarrett Patterson (5th year) 2. Arkansas Ricky Stromberg (immobile) 3. UM Victor Oluwatimi (just powerful run blocker?)4. UGA Sedrick Van Pran (About to have 30 started games in 2 years) QB may be an ideal for Jets to ponder about as plan B/push/investment as Zach Wilson entering 3rd season. Unless Wilson crashed and burned, Jets should take qb in either 3rd or 4th round. 1. Kentucky Will Levis (24 years old by 2023's week 1) 2. Fresno State Jake Haener (24 years old by 2023's draft) 3. UVA Breenan Armstrong (Southpaw) 4. WSU Cameron Ward (Same path as Billy Zappe; also hands look puny) 5. Coastal Carolina Grayson McCall (Run first offense; ShoulderSurgery)6. NCST Devin Leary (will turn 23 this September)
jetsfan4life51
Starters who are going to be Free Agents: George Fant Connor McGovern LaMarcus Joyner Quincy Williams and losing two back up OT Potential Free Agents that would fit: Roquan Smith Tremaine Edmunds Leighton Vander Esch? There will be solid OTs, Fant could also resign for 2-3 years especially if he takes over LT and looks good again And there are a load of Safeties As of now it's going to be similar to this draft, we don't need a 7+ pick draft. We can get a great DT with our 1st then trade back up into the 1st if there are any Centers available. Those are the positions I'll be looking at unless Becton gets hurt and Fant leaves then we for sure need LT. Q isn't signed long term yet. We'll be losing some DTs. We don't know what Marshall is yet. I will be paying attention to Jalen Carter all year. Last but not least, if Lawson lost a step we could go after Will Anderson. DL and OL will be the focus I’d imagine. I peg us around .500, so that should put us in the mid teens.

I agree for me in no order DT, C, OT?, and LB will be our primary needs

Joyner is a bandaid and I don’t think Davis or Pinnock have enough to start over him if he’s healthy
Abe56
Was just playing around with a 2023 mock simulator and it kind of hit me, we really dont have many holes and the few we might the talent coming out dont really matchup with our needs. Now obviously a lot will change from when the next years draft comes around, guys will break out in college, some guys on team may not be what we hoped for, leave in fa, sign fa’s etc but first time in a while dont feel talent deprived
