Is there any chance young gets measured at the combine?

5ft 10 would hurt him

over 6ft would help him

the closer to 200 lbs the better

I just don't see how him being 5'10 or 6'0 would really change much if you already like him as a prospect, you know that he's small already.

Because 6ft is kinda the cut off so 2 inches shorter is too much

He's such a unique prospect though, I don't think 1-2 inches moves the needle one way or the other. Guys like Kyler, Brees, and Wilson have all had success as shorter QBs.

I don’t think he’s that unique. He’s got such a small frame. He scares me.

Yes that was a typo, lol.

Stroud with Pierce, Collins, Metchie, and JSN wouldn't be too shabby.

I don’t think we will or should go WR with our second 1st rounder. All the receivers (precombine) look to be late 1st or 2nd round picks and I think there will be a run on receivers in the 2nd round. At that point it’s all personal preference. there isn’t anyone that sticks out and goes top 15 unless Johnston runs sub 4.4 at the combine.

The receiver I’d like at the top of the 2nd round or later is Kayshon Boutte from LSU. He looks like he has the potential of a #1 receiver and LSU receivers have had a great track record these last few years. He’s Fast, has some good size on him, and definitely makes splash plays, but LSU qb has been bad recently.

I personally think JSN is the best of the group - the hamstring injury really took away this season, but this time last year he was the top WR at OSU (ahead of BOTH Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave, two first round picks and the top two candidates for OROY). If he went top 15, I wouldn’t be shocked; Teams would be evaluating his film from 2021 and testing that hamstring… and would have to be comfortable thinking it’s an anomaly. His film from last season had him as a top 10 guy.

This being said, Jordan Addison is growing on me - he reminds me a lot of Devonta Smith with Philly, just a slick route demon with impeccable hands. The transfer to USC was good to get his name out there as a serious prospect, but his film from Pitt might be more impressive than his one season in SoCal. His timed speed is going to determine how high he goes, because his film is just filthy fun - his size is a concern, but that was the narrative on Smith as well.

I think the top three (Johnston, JSN, Addison) can go in the 15-20 range, and I expect Jalin Hyatt to possibly find himself in the conversation once he runs a ridiculous 40 - I’m going to guess he breaks 4.35, he’s going to fly.

Edit: Don’t discount a guy like TE Michael Mayer climbing up draft boards either - maybe not a WR, but is a prototypical TE who can do everything well. There are shades of Travis Kelce to his game, he just gets open and uses his size to win on his routes and in the open field.

He's definitely a unique prospect, how many guys his size are even considered NFL level prospects? That in itself makes him unique. He's also one of the few prospects outside of Trevor Lawrence that came into college as the dude, lived up to it, and is set to be the #1 pick.

Baby Gronk is the man, he'd be a nice pick at #12, IMO.

Would you rather give up additional draft assets to move up to #1 for Young or stay put at #2 and take either Stroud or Levis?

There’s not a scenario where I would want to trade up from 2 to 1, even for Bryce Young - I’ll just stick around and draft CJ Stroud if that’s the case.

(Honestly - I’d actually rather draft Will Anderson at 1.2 and see if Stroud drops to the 7-8 spot, then use 1.12 to trade back up to get him).

I want Bowers from Georgia next year real bad.

Any thoughts on Boston College WR Zay Flowers? He’s got a little Deebo in his game

Flowers can be a frustrating player.  One on hand he is explosive in the slot.  On the other hand he had too many drops at Boston College.

Exactly. If Young was that guy, then the bears would take him at 1. If the bears are gonna pass him for fields who barely looks like an NFL QB, then that says something.

He’s probably my favorite player in the draft next year - either him or Marvin Harrison Jr.

If a pass catcher is drafted at 1.12 - I ultimately think they’ll end up as a 2nd option if we drafted Bowers, Harrison Jr, Xavier Worthy Jr or any of the other WRs in 2024 (it’s a STACKED class). So, I get the hesitation on getting a guy with 1.12…

…but, much like our current scenario where we are missing out on Bryce Young (supposedly) we can’t bank on ending up in a position to draft Bowers/Harrison Jr. I fully expect both to be top 3-7 picks, and it’s possible that DeMeco leads this team to a pick in the teens (and the Browns will probably be in that 15-25 range with their QB getting in a full season).

In essence - if the team is in a spot to draft Bowers/Harrison Jr, don’t hesitate because you drafted Addison/Mayer/Johnston/JSN, but don’t BANK on getting Bowers/Harrison Jr and pass on Addison/Mayer/Johnston/JSN. A young QB can never have too many quality targets to throw to, you can create a very diverse offensive attack with all of these components at their disposal.

(Ideally, 2024 will get us a pass rusher and a DT - maybe not Will Anderson or Jalen Carter-types, but nobody here would complain with a Brian Burns/Derrick Brown-type return).
