Offense
This week against Portland we'll be making a slight change at the QB position. Since no one think Eli is capable of running a simple offense of quick passes and screens we figured we'd give Brissett a shot and see what people think then.

Split Engram wide to expose the defense- Engram has been on a roll lately IRL as the focal point of his offense, and we'll sort of do the same here today. He's a match up problem for everyone, so if Portland puts Telvin Smith on him exclusively, that will soften up the middle of the defense. If they commit a safety like Jenkins or Quin to him, then that will expose the middle of the field for my other pass catchers to work.

Involve Freeman and Johnson early- Portland has some good pass rushers through that D-line, but our guards are athletic and strong so getting our run game going early in the game will be important. Keeping Johnson moving in the back field on screens and draws stops guys like Watt and Short from just blasting upfield all game.

Go deep- This goes especially for if Westbrook is active today, because that would give us 3 guys in our starting line up that can get down the field in a hurry. With Engram commanding attention in the middle of the field, and our run game working we want Brissett to take shots deep on this secondary.

Defense
Use our advantage on the D-line- This week we need to use the advantage we have up front to disrupt everything Portland wants to do. Chandler Jones, Akiem Hicks, Sheldon Richardson and Yannick Ngakoue alone on the starting front should give Portland major problems up front, let alone rotating in an interior pass rush specialist like David Irving with Preston Smith and Grady Jarret are going to wear this rag tag offensive line out today.

Cover 1 shell- We thought about using a cover 3 because Portland has no true star, but instead we'll work off our pass rush and use a cover 1, shading Byard to Watkins side to eliminate his deep throws and play press on the outside. This look works for us because it won't let Carr work quick and intermediate throws to counter our pass rush. It also helps keep our LB's and Jamal Adams clogging the middle of the field to keep Howard and McCoy in check.

Motivation: We're one game away from getting to .500 and getting back in the playoff race, We're going all out against camden this week.

Portland Offensive Gameplan: Run the ball, Control the clock, Quick Passing game, Get the ball to our playmakers.

The Passing Game: This week we take on Camden and we'll focus on commiting to the run game this week and taking advantage of Camden's lacking CBs, Derek Carr should be able to take advantage of Camden's lacking CBs and with our strong running game we should be able to wear out Camden's defense later in the game. Davante Adams will be our no.1 WR this week and we'll try and get him involved as much as possible with at least 8 targets in the passing game, Sammy Watkins will be demoted to our no.2 WR and we'll use him as a deep threat on the outside but we'll make sure to use him on Slants,Crossing routes, go routes, screens etc. to take advantage of his speed. For the first time in a long time Portland has a no.3 WR that isn't a JAG and we'll get him involved this week by using him as our slot reciever. If Charles Clay suits up we'll feature 2 TE sets quite a bit as well and we'll use them to help in pass protection and in the running game but if he doesn't Austin Hooper will take his role as the 5-50-1 TE role in our offense. Camden's defense outside of it's CBs is very solid with Barr and Burflict forming one of the better LB duos in BDL and led by their fierce D-line and very solid safeties on the backend of their defense. We'll also feature our RBs quite a bit in the passing game and use them as pass protectors as is needed, we'll mostly feature a 3 WR, 2 TE, 2 RB based offense that's commited to the running game but will also focus on getting the ball out quicker to counter Camden's fierce pass rush. I'd expect Camden will sell out to stop the run and if they do we'll go to a more pass heavy offense but we'll stay commited to the running game to keep our offense grounded.

The Running Game: Jordan Howard and LeSean McCoy form the best RB duo in BDL (fight me SirA) and they are more or less the engine of our offense and both should get around 15+ touches along with Abdullah mixing to keep them fresh, Howard will be the main RB with McCoy pitching in as the 3rd down back and main pass catcher out of the backfield. We'll use our stud FB if he suits up if not we'll just use a standard single back set more often than we normally would.

The Blocking: Most games nowadays are won in the trenches and due to some (In hindsight) stupid trades over the years our once great o-line is now a shell of it's former self. But still my o-line is capable of keeping Carr decently protected and will be able to open decent holes for my RBs.

TDLR; Make Plays, Commit to the run, Win the TOP battle.

Portland Defensive Gameplan: Get stripsacks, Sack Eli, Dominate the LOS, Mix up over coverages.

Pass Defense: I'm so glad I'm not facing the Camden passing game from week 1 with Brees,Evans,Beckham because there's no defending that all of those players were traded away or got injured so yay for me. Jimmy Smith will cover Paul Richardson the RL no.3 option in the passing game for the seahawks, Johnathan Joeseph will cover Nelson Agholor who is redeeming himself from being a bust the previous 2 seasons and our no.3 CB will cover Cole Beasley. I'd expect Duke Johnson and Devonta Freeman will be heavily used as supplementary pass catchers to make up for the lacking of a solid no.3 WR for Camden's offense and to help Eli out since his pass protection is gonna be shaky since Tyron Smith will most likely miss this game, Evan Engram is camden's best gaming weapon IMO and we'll put some extra attention on covering him since he's Eli's favorite RL weapon and I'd Imagine BDL weapon as well. We'll cover Engram by having Jenkins cover him for some of the game and rotating that task with Telvin Smith or another LB. We'll mostly be playing zone defense but we'll mix that up with some man coverage and some 3 safety looks featuring Dan Sorenson as the 3rd safety. My safeties led by Quinn and Jenkins should be able to keep any big plays limited and force a turnover or two against an INT prone QB. I'm not gonna trash Eli since his IRL play has mostly been because of the team around him sucking IRL but still he's struggled this year and I don't see Camden making all that many plays in the passing game because of his struggles.

Run Defense: My front seven should be able to handle an o-line missing it's best lineman assuming Tyron Smith doesn't play even then we should be able to put tons of pressure on Eli and shut down the running game, another weakness for Camden in the running game is the awful C they have up front outside of him Camden boasts a pretty solid o-line. My D-line led by Kawann Short the 2nd best D-lineman in football now because J.J Watt died along with Timmy Jernigan who just got a massive extension because he elevated his play to a whole new level this season, they should be able to collapse the pocket and control the running lanes inside preventing Camden from running the ball very well. T.J Watt and Emmanual Ogbah form a solid edge rush duo and should be able to get some decent pressure on Eli and force him into a turnover or two because Eli is Eli. My d-line will rotate heavily with their backups to keep them fresh so they can get after the QB and shut down the run, My LBs led by Telvin Smith who will be the signal caller on defense should be able to cover whoever they're asked to cover and shut down the run as well. We'll use Bruce Irvin as a pass rushing chess piece and move him around to find matchups for him to get to Eli as a Rush Linebacker. We'll play goaline, nickel, dime, run heavy defense as the situation calls for it and we'll make adjustments based on the formations Camden uses. Good luck Jlash.

TDLR; Control the LOs, Get Pressure on Eli, Stop the run inside, Force Turnovers.

i'm trying to figure out how a 3 wr 2 te 2 rb offense works

Pretty simple actually, it doesn't work because by the time you snap the ball you have 4 edge rushers in the FB's face who is now playing QB because #Smashmouth.

A healthy Portland is actually a pretty solid team aside from the o-line which isn't OKC levels of bad but outside of Villanueva/Veldheer/Jones your Gs are pretty terrible and Veldheer has been awful this year.

I like the switch to Brissett it gives the team a nice motivation boost in a tank year but he's going to get hit a lot by Portland's edge rushers. With Decker coming off an injury he'll be rusty and Collins is pretty meh.

Between two teams with o-line issues and very good defenses all around I'll give the edge to Portland since they have the better secondary and QB.

I think Camden's DL causes Portlands OL a lot of grief and Portland is one of the few teams without the offensive weapons to take advantage of a weaker CB group that Camden has at the moment. I think there's a possibility that the run game goes a bit better since Portland's OL is better geared towards that, but even then, there's definitely the depth on that front for Camden to make rotations and keep fresh and hold up well.

As far as Camden's offense goes, I like Brissett coming in and mixing things up with him since he's been pretty solid this year. I'm not too enthusiastic about the offense with a rusty Decker coming in and the weapons obviously leave a lot to be desired. Portland's weakness on the offensive side is definitely not match by it's prowess on the defensive side as well, it's a pretty strong unit and I think will really put the clamps on Camden.

In the end I think the QB change energises Camden a bit, but Portland manages to get the job done at home off the back of a few big plays from Carr to Watkins and Howard making some tough yards in the back field. Portland 13 - 9 Camden

I actually think Jacoby Brissett is capable of winning BDL games. Portlands offense is just equipped with a better QB and upgraded skill weapons. They can reasonably reach 20 points, and I can't say the same for Camden.

Portland 27 Camden 13
