LA Rams
San Francisco
Arizona
Seattle

I think the Rams will be the best team in the league this year; certainly the best in their division. 49ers should do well, but the QB play is impossible to predict at this stage. Cards will do their usual start well, end poorly thing. Seahawks are in for a tough couple of years.

I'm going with:

Rams - 11/12 wins. Tough opponents away from SoFi in Saints, Bucs, Packers, Chiefs. Not to mention playing the Broncos, Bills, Chargers, Cowboys and Raiders that will all be highly competitive. It's going to be a tough campaign and I think losses are inevitable.

Niners - 10/11 wins.

Cardinals - 9/10 wins.

Seahawks - 5/6 wins.

Exactly.  Deebo's outcome will be telling, though.  If he is traded for equivalent talent or if he remains in San Francisco the 49ers should finish a respectable second to the Rams--first if Jimmy Garoppolo were able to play all 17 games.  If Deebo is exchanged for a likely high draft pick in 2023 then Trey starts and the 49ers, despite being third in overall starting talent league wide, could end up below .500.  Seattle will be third but only because Arizona has been reduced to the second shoddiest lineup in the NFL.

I feel like the Rams will win this division. I know its extremely hard to repeat but we have seen in the last what decade teams that won the previous season get back to the Superbowl even though they didnt win the Superbowl again. Also in recent history the last three Superbowl champs started the following season on fire. I expect the Rams to come out of the gates on fire as well. The Rams have a hard schedule but the good news is they play 10 games at Sofi. So they only have to leave the stadium 7 times. They are still aggressive and I like the additions of ARob and Wagner. Also hopefully the Rams can bring back OBJ so he can once again be there for the Rams later in the season for the playoff run. I think Noteboom add youth and athleticism to the LT position plus he got to sit back and learn from a great LT in Whitworth. I think he will do just fine. I also think Stafford will be even more comfortable in the offense and having a healthy Akers for a full season will help. Not to mention Im excited to see what the new OC Coen will bring. He has experience with McVay and the Rams coaching staff so having him back is something that isnt talked about enough as a major addition for them in the offseason. Last thing, the one thing McVay has never gotten in his career with the Rams in the 1 seed. Im not saying its a lock for the Rams to get the 1 seed but I do think its a very strong possibility with the NFC being weakened. My expectations for the Rams this season barring a ton of injuries is for them to get back to the NFCCG.

I then have the Niners right behind the Rams. For all their drama in the offseason with Jimmy G and Deebo I still think they are a dangerous team. I think their defense is talented and physical and I think their offense is talented and physical. Obviously if they lose Deebo its a huge deal but as we speak he is still on the team along with Kittle so the offense will be fine at the worst. If Lance is the starting QB come opening day I want to see how he does? He has the potential to make this Niners offense deadly. Maybe not right away but possibly by the season end he can get into a nice groove and start to show why the Niners moved up to get him. I think the Niners will be right there fighting the Rams for the division title and they will make the playoffs. Maybe the Rams will be facing the Niners again in the playoffs for a chance to get to the Superbowl.

The Cards has the talent and potential to win the division and even get to the Superbowl to host in Arizona. I just dont trust Kyler to stay healthy and I dont trust Kingsbury when it comes to big games and late in the season when the pressure starts to mount up. Plus they lost their best receiver in D-Hop for the first 6 games. Not saying the Cards cant still get off to a fast start bc thats what they do regardless. I do think getting Brown will help them alot but I think it still comes down to Kyler staying relatively healthy for the full season and Kingsbury not collapsing under the pressure when the stakes get higher and higher. I think the CAN make the playoffs but Im not picking them to make the playoffs this season and it doesnt mean Kingsbury gets fired just bc they gave him a contract extension and they could use D-Hop being out for the first 6 games of the season. Next year though they HAVE to not only make the playoffs but make a deep run bc if they dont next season Im confident Kingsbury will be fired.

Ill make it brief with the Seahawks. They know they are in a rebuild stage. They dont have the QB to compete in this division or in the NFC as a whole. Yes they want to build a running game and defense and hope it will help hide the QB. One thing we know is the QB cant be hid. Plus we know the Seahawks defense isnt the defense it was with a young Russ. As a result the Seahawks are going to struggle badly and get a top 5 pick in next year's draft to possibly go after Stroud or Young at QB. This season is going to be about developing their young players bc they are just like the Falcons in that they have zero expectations to win this season.

This is the rams' division to lose.

I imagine the 49ers will be about a 9-10 win team, the cardinals an 8-9 win team, and the seahawks pulling up the rear.

I think you are underselling the 9ers and overselling the Cardinals.

The 49ers were a ten win team last year, I don't imagine them being much better this year. There are going to be bumps in the road for Lance. His offense may be more explosive than Jimmy's last year, but down to down I doubt it's as consistent. The offensive line is worse with the loss of Laken Tomlinson, and there's no telling how McG comes back from a torn quad, the RG situation is still one of the worst in the league, and nobody knows if Alex Mack is actually coming back yet. The defense should be relatively similar, but their out of division games are much tougher given that they are going from the AFC South to the AFC West this year.

The Cardinals could be worse than an 8 win team, but an 8-9 team is still pretty mediocre. I don't think that they are cratering to 5 wins or anything.

I think 10 wins was a bit of an undercount for the Niners last year due to the bad turnover luck they had early on in the season. For example, there were 3 fumbles total in the 2nd Cardinals game (2 by the Niners, 1 by the Cards). All 3 were recovered by Arizona. Thats a low probability, but it happened that day. Once they stopped turning the ball over you saw the potential they had in the 2nd half of the season and the playoffs

Most of the team has remained the same or retooled as part of a normal offseason. That being said, Lance is a wildcard right now and our OL has gotten worse due to losing Laken Tomlinson

I could see the 2022 team going through some growing pains with Lance and the OL early on but playing to their potential later on, so kind of a 2021 repeat. Overall i think 10 wins is realistic. I'd say 11-6 at this point

Rams likely should win the division

Niners if Lance is anywhere near where Niner fans hope he is will likely finish second.

Arizona third unless they figure out the second half collapse then 2nd place is a great battle.

Seattle had a great draft and looks to be building for the future just don't think that's now.

All that said this is always a tough battle within the division and anything can happen, I don't take anything for granted within this division.

All NFC West teams will play just four games outside the Mountain/Pacific Time Zones, locations which are not permitted to host a 1 PM ET game. The 49ers and Cardinals will meet in Mexico City, and both teams have road games against Atlanta, Carolina and a Central Time-based NFC North team. The Rams and Seahawks will also play a road game against an NFC North team, as well as road games against the Buccaneers, Chiefs, and Saints, with the Seahawks playing the Buccaneers in Munich.

They had beneficial turn over luck later in the season (see the Bengals game). For the season, they were right about where you should be with regards to overall fumble luck (about 50% recovered on forced fumbles and offensive fumbles). They forced 22 fumbles, recovered 11 of them. Offensively they fumbled 23 times and only lost 10 of them.
