One for offense and one for defense.

ORoY -
DRoY -

Here are some stats.

Offense:

  • Since 2000 - 9 RB, 9 QB, 4 WR
  • Last 10 years - 4 RB, 4 QB, 2 WR
  • No OL or TE has ever won but there have been two FB, both in the 1970s
  • In the first 37 years of the award, only one QB was chosen. Since then there are nine, starting with Ben Roethlisberger in 2003.

Defense:

  • Since 2000 - 13 LB, 4 Edge/DE, 3 DT, 2 CB
  • Last 10 years - 3 LB, 3 Edge/DE, 2 DT, 2 CB
  • More MLB/ILB have won than OLB and some are listed only LB, notably Micah Parsons last season
  • Four CB won in the first ten years, but only one in the next 35 years, Chales Woodson in 1998
  • Two safeties haves won but not since Mark Carrier in 1990

Who is your choice just based on rookie camps?

Five years ago the Saints pulled the double with Marshon Lattimore and Alvin Kamara. I am tempted to do the same this year, but which team?

  • The Jets have my #1 draft largely based on Sauce Gardner, Jermaine Johnson, and Breece Hall.
  • The Lions have Aidan Hutchinson and Jameson Williams.
  • The Packers have Quay Walker and Christian Watson.
  • My Chiefs have George Karlaftis, Skyy Moore, and a sleeper, Leo Chenal.

To go in a different direction and llok for fits,

  • Kyle Hamilton should be a tackling machine in Baltimore.
  • The Chiefs defense lost several veterans, replacing them with young hitters personified by Karlaftis and Chenal.
  • The Bills have a gret QB, an excellent OL and added fast RB in james Cook.
  • Two other elite QBs lost their best WR. Devonte Adams was replaced by Christian Watson while Tyreek Hill was replaced by Skyy Moore.

Much as I would like to pick Skyy Moore and Leo Chenal, i am going with the first safety to win in decades, Kyle Hamilton, and the RB in the best position, James Cook.

Breece Hall seems like a good bet, my only concern is that I think Michael Carter will get a ton of touches too. The same thing for Cook who will be splitting touches with Singletary and Moss.

My dark horse picks would be Skyy Moore/Tyler Allgeier and Jalen Pitre/Daxton Hill.
