Completely random question, but anyone hear what celebration Thielen was orchestrating yesterday? Or is he going to save it for the next one?

Cove said Monkey in the Middle...although, if it's the game I'm thinking of, I believe we called it Pickle in the Middle, not Monkey...I haven't heard of that one.

Unless he’s running the base paths, I’ve never heard of pickle in the middle.

Goff attempted six passes that traveled 20 or more yards in the air and completed one for 23 yards. Goff averaged fewer than 10 yards per completion and 6.1 yards per attempt. He entered the game averaging 13.7 yards per completion and 8.5 yards per attempt in 2017.

Minnesota didn’t allow a run of longer than 10 yards for the fourth time this season.

What I liked was in the fourth, Vikes put together an about 8-9 minute drive which killed the clock and gave the Rams no chance of a comeback.

Wow, 6.1 YPA is Ponderesque.  If we held him to that, we did a good job of keeping the pressure on him and covering the deeper routes.

Vocal fans gave Zimmer the volume he wanted, which he said made it difficult for the Rams to get their offense going or make audibles at the line of scrimmage in Sunday’s 24-7 victory for the Vikings.

Zimmer: “I think the crowd was huge. They stifled the Rams’ no-huddle offense and made the communication hard and made them use a couple of timeouts. They even started huddling some. They were trying to communicate, and I don’t think they were prepared for the crowd noise we had. It was good. The crowd was outstanding.”

We see our defense give up long drives, and occasionally point on the first drive, a lot. And I can’t help but believe that it’s something that Zimmer allows by design.

Every team has their first drive (5-10 or so plays) scripted. And it’s almost as if Zimmer let’s opposing teams run those plays, and sacrifices that first drive, so that he gets to see what the opponent’s game plan is. Then he makes his adjustments and the defense tightens up.

Zimmer: “We didn’t play very good on that first drive. We messed up the third down and allowed them to get going. We didn’t play the run very good. We got out of our gaps. We just had to clean it up and get back to doing what we do. We came out in the second half and we had a good idea of what they were doing after a while. Once we figured it out, then I kind of knew what we had to do to change things up. The players executed. They did a good job."
