HerbertGOAT
Question's in the title. Going by decade because that's easier. Elite can extend from top 4 to 7-8ish depending on the wealth of talent. 1970's Fran Tarkenton Roger Staubach Terry Bradshaw Ken Stabler Bob Griese 1980's Joe Montana John Elway Dan Marino Dan Fouts 1990's Brett Favre Steve Young John Elway Dan Marino Jim Kelly Troy Aikman Warren Moon 2000's Tom Brady Peyton Manning Brett Favre Drew Brees Kurt Warner Ben Roethlisberger 2010's Tom Brady Peyton Manning Aaron Rodgers Drew Brees Matt Ryan Philip Rivers Ben Roethlisberger Russell Wilson Guys like Mahomes, Lamar, Josh Allen, Deshaun Watson, etc. didn't play long enough in the 2010's. Totty
Hard to argue against the 2000's. GOAT 2nd GOAT Legend All Time Record Holder at a litany of spots. Kurt and Ben both HOF careers with Championships. Its at least a tough out to eliminate them from the best of all time tournament. Why is Joe Montana not on the 1990's list?
FrantikRam
I think that you could argue that Brady, Manning, Brees and Rodgers are the four best to ever do it. So 2010 for me.
ET80
I’d argue Warren Moon belongs in the 80s. This being said, it’s probably the 00s - but, how much of that is due to rules heavily favoring offenses?

Sure Manning only played 5 or so years in the 2010's, but one of them was the greatest statistical passing season ever, and he also won a SB. Bolts223
Right now has to be up there tbh: Brady, Rodgers, Ryan, Stafford, Wilson, Carr, Jimmy G, Dak, Mahomes, (redacted), Allen, Lamar, Kyler, Burrow and Herbert. That’s a really deep group of starting QB’s.

Manning was also only good for 2.5 seasons in the 2010s as well; he became "Zombie Peyton" in the second half of 2014.
Soko
2010s, IMO. Brees was more of a juggernaut post 2010 than pre 2010. Rodgers is an obvious upgrade on Favre. Peyton’s best season was in the 2010s although this pre 2010 career was obviously superior overall. Big Ben’s best seasons were after 2010. Kiwibrown
The depth of talent has certainly never been higher than it is right now. Mahomes, Roger's, watson, burrow, stafford, Jackson, herbert, wilson are all elite and then there isnt much drop off to the top of the 2nd tier- cousins, carr, ryan

He retired with the lead in two, not most. One was imminently to be taken over by Brady (yards) almost immediately. The other is most completions; a completion record isn't a reason to be considered a top 4 all-time QB. Not that accumulative stats mean much when comparing a modern QB career to past ones. We all know that would be a bad faith argument. Edited June 4, 2022 by Duluther
AngusMcFife
Montana, Marino, and Elway revolutionized the QB position in the 80s. If Moon had gotten a chance to play in the NFL out of college, I think he would have developed faster and hit his prime much earlier than in his 30s. These are the QBs that made a quantum leap forward and paved the way for the hyper-efficient QBs of the 2000s.
