Give Me 1 Breakout Offensive Player (non QB) and 1 Breakout Defensive Player From Your Team for the 2022 Season

I'll do the Browns.

On Offense

I'm going to say Jedrick Wills will be our 2022 breakout player. I thought he was the best LT prospect in his draft. His rookie year he was really good, and then last year he had a down year due to a nagging injury he suffered week 1. I think this year he comes back healthy and proves he's a top tier OT talent. He's ultra athletic and I think will have a pro bowl type bounce back season.

On Defense

It's really down to 2. Greg Newsome and Grant Delphit. I'm going to pick Grant Delpit here. He will be 2 years removed from his Achilles injury. He showed flashes last year and started to be a consistent player in our defensive backfield. I think this year he comes in as a true starter and has a pro bowl type season. He looked like he still had a ton of explosiveness last year, and I only expect that to look better this year. Our defensive backfield as a group should perform very well since we have all the starters coming back in their same roles beside swapping Troy Hill in the slot for Newsome.

Newsome could be pro bowl too as our nickel, but I'm slightly going to slide with Delphit on this exercise.

Now who are your teams breakout players? One on each side of the ball!

Tennessee:

Offense is tough. I think most who might have really good seasons are already established players, so it’s probably either Treylon Burks, Kyle Phillips, or Dillon Radunz. Give me Radunz, I guess. Not great options here.

Defense has a better list of candidates. Kristian Fulton is a good candidate; very good first year as a starter, and coming back for that third year leap. Caleb Farley and Roger McCreary are also options.

David Long too, if he hasn’t already broken out. Top level coverage linebacker.

Steelers

For offense, Najee is easy.    He was quite good last year but rendered largely ineffective by the OLine and poor downfield passing game.   Im interested to see if anything changes this year.   The talent is there in spades, though.

Chase Claypool could be great if used right.   He is a big slot guy.  If used properly he could be dominant in the middle.

Pat Friermuth has top 10 TE talent.   Just worried about his concussions.

On defense...not sure.  Highsmith might break out a little more, but I dont expect him to ever be great.   I dont have much faith in Devin Bush.   Honestly, if DeMarvin Leal starts, he is the best bet probably.   Not saying he will, but with Tuitt retiring, he will get an early opportunity to show what he can do, and while we have decent DL depth, none are guys that should be hard to beat for Tuitts spot.

Agree with almost all of this.

Najee has as much talent as any RB in the league, it's about the line in front of him producing even a little bit of movement and he will have a monster season.

We need to get Claypool back to what he was doing so well in his rookie season, don't try and make him something he's not. Hopefully between Austin and Pickens they will provide enough that Claypool can go back to that big slot role.

Word for word on Freiermuth. Hands are like glue, big, strong, good route runner. Seems prone to concussions which isn't great, but if I was to put money on 1 offensive player to break out this year it would be him.

On defense I think Highsmith is most likely. Think he spent some of the offseason with TJ so hopefully learnt some of his secrets and can have a solid 8-10 sack season opposite the best defensive player in football. Witherspoon is a decent shout too in my opinion, had really high end play in the games he played last season, just need to see if he can do that as the teams definite #1.

For the Falcons,

On offense: Bryan Edwards.

He just fits what Atlanta does so well. It wouldn't shock me to see him as the No. 1 receiver this year on the outside with London and Pitts playing more true slot roles in the spread formations. While London and Pitts will see a lot of the volume and coverages rolled their way, Edwards should get a lot of one-on-one matchups and he's very good at beating man coverage. This should help him see the ball more. Plus, he already has some chemistry with Mariota.

On defense: Ta'Quon Graham.

He's got great quickness off the ball and held his point well in run defense last year with some flashes of push on the inside. With a pro strength training program and another year in the defense, it wouldn't shock me to see him be a quality defensive tackle next to Grady Jarrett. Adding in the improved pressure from a revamped edge group, and I think the Falcons could have something in him.

For the Packers,

On Offense: Jon Runyan Jr G

He wasn't supposed to start last year but ended up starting 16 games. Although he was a little rough at the beginning of the year as it went on he got better and better. He only allowed more then one pressure in a game once and that was against Aaron Donald and he still only game up 2. The 2nd half of the year really clicked with him and he only allowed 5 pressures over his last 8 games. I think he could be an extremely solid starter for years to come.

On Defense: Eric Stokes CB

With the injury to Alexander was rushed into a much bigger role then he should have been and shined. One of if not the best rookie CBs last year and that is saying a lot considering there were some pretty damn good rookie CBs last year.

Bills

Offense:

WR Gabriel Davis. The game against the Chiefs likely put him on the map for casual fans but he’s been a steady player and redzone threat for two years. Now with no Beasley, John Brown or Emmanuel Sanders, Davis is the clear number 2 target at WR and an 80 catch 10td season seems quite possible.

Defense

DE Greg Rousseau

Showed all the signs last year and the physical talent is clearly there. Was extremely good against the run. Now with Von Miller on the opposite side he should get plenty of opportunities to get to the QB himself.

I plan on taking him pretty high in fantasy

Giants breakout players last year were Andrew Thomas and Xavier Mckinney, both 2nd year players taken in the first 2 rounds who really took the next step.

I'm going to predict something similar this year: 1st and 2nd round picks from 2021 break out this year- Kadarius Toney and Azeez Ojulari. Azeez is going to benefit from having Thibs on the other side of him and the defense overall being more blitz and pressure happy. I know Wink notoriously does not produce singular pass rushers with high sack numbers, but Azeez will benefit from being in New York and being in a hopefully more productive pass rushing defense. Toney is a no brainer. He's a perfect fit for a Daboll/Kafka offense and is supremely physically talented. We just need him to stay healthy.

Jets.

Offense: Easy answer would be Wilson, but without saying a QB I am gonna say Elijah Moore. He was coming alive mid-late season, he had a nagging quad injury last season that flared back up. Hopefully he stays healthy and has a big season, he can be electric.

Defense: This one is kind of hard. Have a few players who could breakout. I'll go Quinnen Williams having his best season yet. Hoping that Carl Lawson comes back strong from injury.

Chiefs

Offense: This is difficult because of all the new faces. I am going to say that this is the year that Clyde Edwards-Hellaire makes a serious impression. It could also be Mecole Hardman, MVS, rookie Skyy Moore, 2nd year TE Jody Fortson.

Defense: The departure of Tyrann "the Landlord" Mathieu there is a leadership gap on defense. Filling it are recently acquired S Justin Reid and 2nd year MLB Nick Bolton. Higher profile will be 1st round picks Trent McDuffie and George Karlaftis, but I think the new MLB will have greater impact. This is going to be a significantly more physical defense, not to mention younger and faster.

As a fantasy footballer I don't really have a team per se but am fascinated by what's going on with the Patriots.

Offense

The other O-Linemen are already good (30-x-5-3-33) so I'll go with rookie LG Cole Strange.

Defense

Another area where the Pats have excelled in development is Cornerback.  That ability is going to be sorely tested, with J.C. Jackson gone and the team third in total passes defended last year.  Jalen Mills is the only above average CB still on the team so he'll need to shine against the league's best WRs.

Dark Horse

WRs Parker, Meyers, Bourne, Agholor, and Harry are known quantities so I'm curious to see what rookie smurf Tyquan Thornton will do on offense.  You didn't ask for a dark horse but he'd be mine, league wide (notwithstanding Belichick's non-stellar record with WRs).

P.S. I agree on Pittsburgh's Pat Freiermuth, as do the schedule makers:  QBs:21st softest defenders, RBs:22nd, WRs:29th, TEs:2nd.
