I am happy we resigned him but McDaniels and Ziegler are spending money like are not planning on sticking around very long.  We are pretty much out of cap space for next year and the only way to create more would be restructures that never end well or cutting core players like Carr, Waller, or Adams.  If we have to cut them this rebuild is already a fail.  We have to win with this team as is or it is going to be torn down.  We have no flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.  I do not like that because it almost never ends up that all things go as planned.

The man earned it. Period. Hell for some just that great heads up play last season was enough. Lmao! Glad to see him get paid. Some will never be happy tho, and that’s their freedom. And after 20 yrs of suck, I get it. Just not my choice. If the bengals can do it....so can we! I’m a raider forever, so I choose to be an optimistic raider!

You dont get into trouble by signing good players, and its never a bad thing to keep your own in-house. The problem is when you sign guys like Littleton, Nassib and Kwit and end up having to eat dead money. The Raiders have paid guys that will be here and have a high probability of continued success. Cap space begins to tighten anytime you have a bunch of good players on your roster. Its going to come down to building around your core through the draft. Also, by having a quality roster(less holes) and a chance at winning you have a better chance at getting value in FA. These are good problems imo.

Jacobs, Ferrell, Abram, Drake, and some roster fat will clear up some space.

Even if we keep one of the first 3, no way we keep them all.

Carr, Miller, Adams, Renfrow are core guys locked up for a bit. Parham and Mr. Leatherwood are on rookie deals. James and the RG spot are cheap and will be filled by draft picks next year (at least OG). We have a slew of young RBs right now and McDaniels has never been a feature back guy, so the offense won't require much tinkering.

On D, Mullen is a wildcard. Maxx and Jones are locked in, Hobbs isn't going anywhere, nor is Moehrig. We just drafted 2 absolute units at DT, so they're locked in. Rock is locked in. Koonce too. And while we have no clue how the LBs will shake out, we have potential there and they're pretty cheap, while Deablo is on a rookie deal.

Maybe I'm a bit optimistic, but so many of our core guys on both sides of the ball are now locked in for the next 2, 3, 4 years. Will we even be needing a gross ton of cap space? Who do we expect to lose in the next year or so that is going to require a pricey replacement?
