Most GM's probably would take Vic #1 because they are dumb. I mean look at Ayton over Luka as a recent example. LeBron was still the superior prospect.

Having been in my late teens at the time, you could've had Jesus Christ himself in that draft and LeBron was still going #1 overall. He was THE prospect of all prospects. Nobody, in the history of the NBA draft, goes over LeBron James as a prospect. The only player in draft history that would have a case is Kareem. Talking hype and talent at the time. You don't get spotlight for 3 high school seasons and the nickname "The Chosen One" and go behind a 7'4" foreigner. LeBron was built like a mac truck outta high school and you had no concerns about his durability that you will Victor.

Doesn't really dispute what I said though. You can be right and people can still be dumb.

So Whitmore and Whitehead both look like they may be out to start the season.

Speaking of Whitehead, word is he’s up to 6’8” 220 now. You always hear about how guys grow and put on “x” amount of weight during the offseason so I have my doubts about the validity of it. It’d be huge for him if true though.

I still think LeBron would be drafted #1 if they were in the same draft. No guarantee of that, but I doubt a team would overlook LeBron for Victor.

In 2003 you don't have the stigma against players that are overly tall and are assumed to lack quickness to guard the perimeter. Yao had gone first two years prior and you didn't NEED to be a wing to carry a franchise yet.

Of course, who knows what Vic looks like in the era of post-ups and Shaq.

I still think LeBron would go 1st to Cleveland in that draft. It's more important to have a stud wing than big man and teams know that.

LeBron didn't have questions about his athleticism like Luka to keep him from going 1st.

Whitehead looked a couple of inches taller than Scheyer, I think he's also set to be back before the season starts too, IIRC.

I mean, neither are on the level of prospects that LeBron and Wembanyama are but we literally just saw this last year when Banchero, with his build, went over Chet.

Chet isn't anywhere close to Victor as a prospect though.

I’ve seen recent pictures of him and it’s clear he’s added weight to his frame too. Hopefully he is back to start the year. I’m extremely high on him.

I also think Tyrese Proctor is being slept on heavily right now. If six months from now he’s considered the top Duke draft prospect, I wouldn’t be totally surprised.
