A loss is pretty bleak, we'd be out of the playoffs unless there's a crazy stroke of luck. This isn't even close to a playoff game. We need to stop this hype train right now. We are one game out. If Bal and Buf lose next week as well we're still one game out. I want this game more than I want world peace but it's not a deal breaker. Let's reel this in a bit. Although we could lose this game and still make the playoffs our chances would probably be in the 3-5% range if we lose. Our chances are still low even if we win. I get the spirit in which the post I replied to was written and the odds but a corner can be turned by any team in the league for good or bad. But the reality of being one game out means we are still in the race. That was my point. Every game isn't do or die. I remember people saying similar things weeks ago. I'm just bring a different spin.

RoughRaider
This game will be 2 high altitude game in a row for Patriots. Maybe just maybe this works for our favor.

A team we own the tiebreaker over yea, need jax to win that division. need buf or balt to fall apart. balts schedule looks pretty easy, ill be shocked if they dont get too 8, and Id bet they hit 9. @GB, Hou, DET, @Pit @Clev IND Cin - if Clev is 0-13, maybe they steal it Buffs schedule is decently tough, Chargers, KC, NE twice, Miami twice and Ind - kinda hoping they lose to LAC, beat KC - they need 4 wins which is tough Ten - @Pit, @ind, hou, @ari, @sf, LAr, JAX - need to hope they lose tonight snd last two weeks Jax - @cle, @ ari, v ind, v seat, v hou, @sf, @ten - Jax schedule definitely seems easier than Tenns' so hopefully everything plays out in our favor and they win the South. A 9-7 team will make the playoffs - but our loses to Balt and Buff really hurt us. Hopefully the Buff players are mad with the whole Tyrod situation and Balt gets some bad play out of flacco

I read a post on a Pats blog awhile ago talking about them staying in Denver for this very reason and even suggested that the scheduling was worked out to even the playing field because we have a bye the week before. Oh well, no excuses. I hope they come up swinging. Sure we can lose and make it, but this can be a statement game. Kind of like NO last season. Win this, and ride the momentum. There are 6 to 10 teams trying for those 2 playoff spots. if we lose and go to 4-6, we go to the bottom part of that list. The fight to climb back up and overcome all those teams and finish ahead of those who have the tiebreak over us.... like I said would take a crazy stroke of luck, along with a fantastic stretch of play against a hard schedule. Our chances don't go to zero, but man alive it would be on the level of one of those NYG crazy comeback seasons, or like GB last year. Just trying to be realistic, it rarely happens. Yeah, 6 teams register when it comes to arguing the importance of this one game. And like I said even with a lose we are still only one game out and depending on what Bal, Buf and Mia do this week we could be tied in record with 6 games to play. Sorry but it's not a make or break game no matter how you try to spin the remaining schedule or the odds.

Sorry but it's not a make or break game no matter how you try to spin the remaining schedule or the odds. If the raiders want to control their own destiny it is. Theres to many "ifs" in the instance that the raiders lose this weekends game. Counting on all three of those teams losing is no way to go about going to the playoffs. This year has been insane as far as wins and losses for teams. You may think Bal, Buf and Miami are sure fire teams to lose their games and then one of them hangs 40 points on one of their opponents and pull even further from the Raiders. In fact this "We can take a loss mentality" is why the Raiders are where the are now. Contrary to what people think, games matter in October and September, going 7-2 into the second half of the season is much nicer than 4-5. The second half was alway going to be brutal and when the goal should be home field advantage in the playoffs, the Raiders need to keep pace with the Patriots, who always have a cupcake schedule, and the Steelers. Honestly when you have a team like the Patriots who go 14-2 or 13-3 every year, pretty much every game is a must win, because playing them in Foxbrough in January is a sure fire way to lose. I think the only team in the Belechik era to go in to Foxbrough and beat them are the Ravens. They have a ridiculous advantage in the playoffs at home. But to my original point, yes this is a must win game. Heck the Raiders could still win the division if they win this game. And honestly I'd love for the Raiders to have a playoff mentality already. It'll give them a battle tested edge going into the playoffs.
