Especially the last 2 years. Davis is currently still ascending in his career and entering his prime. You can tell he is slowly taking over the lead of the team. I expect next year for him to be 1a and LeBron to be 1b. That was the plan with Kyrie that lebron wanted to do but Kyrie didn't apparently want to wait. It depends what you mean lol. I'm at the point where I never expect LeBron to be a 1b on any team, even if AD surpasses him in stats, it'll be LeBron making all the calls. He's too dominant from the mental aspect of basketball to not be running the show.
roger murdock
Garland was drafted high because he had the best combo of ball handling, passing, and shooting in the draft and those are the most important skills in the game. He clearly wasnt an analystics pick. He was an upside pick and sure as hell wasn't drafted to be the best player year 1 coming off a terrible injury on a roster thats a bad fit for him. People need to relax. All these rookies look so much better than they did 6 months ago because they are already 3 months into their second season.

He was drafted for the same reason Kyrie was drafted. #1 rated PG prospects in HS, shortened college careers due to injury, drafted for potential.

If they wanted to draft off of college accomplishments, Kemba would have been our pick that year. 23 minutes ago, roger murdock said: Garland was drafted high because he had the best combo of ball handling, passing, and shooting in the draft and those are the most important skills in the game. It would have been interesting to see the Cavs in a bubble

Also you never know, kemba might have been more accepting to the role of robin long term if it meant playing with Lebron and them.

LETSGOBROWNIES
Are we really throwing in the towel on a 20 year old PG who missed pretty much all of college after 59 games? Whew lads, that’s premature even for this forum.

Last few games of the year last year it seemed like it was working out but let’s see if he picks up where he left off Edited September 27, 2020 by buno67

Sexton and Garland are both young and still learning. Draft BPA and see how guys develop.
candyman93
The only way Garland justifies the pick is if he becomes an absolute sniper from 3.

His shooting is what him such a highly rated prospect, you dont go from being a great shooter to becoming a horrible shooter. I would chalk up last season to him coming off injury and essentially going from HS straight to the NBA. If he becomes a sniper from 3 and starts distributing he will be just what the Cavs need. Sexton doesnt look like hes ever going to be a true facilitator so its on Garland/KPJ who all flashed playmaking ability last season at certain points. Garland turned it over a bunch, but he turned it over while looking to make passes--so I take that as a positive sign that the thought is at least there the execution just needs to be better which will come from experience Edited September 28, 2020 by AkronsWitness
