If we had taken anyone else other than Mobley that year, it would've set this franchise back a ton. Even if we took Cade, we wouldn't be in the position we are now or in the future. We currently have a four game lead on the Knicks with 5 games to play. Cavs win tonight - it becomes a 5 game lead with 4 to play. As far as the Sixers go, the have a 2-1/2 game lead on us with 6 games to go. If they win the game in hand, it becomes tougher at a 3 game lead with 5 to play. If they lose the game in hand, our chances improve significantly. Then it's a two game lead with 5 to play. So - The Cavs are more than likely in the 4th slot. That means a first round series at home vs. the Knicks (probably) or the Nets (possible - not likely). The next series would be a road series with the Bucks. Not ideal. If the Cavs do bypass the 76ers and capture the third spot - their first round series would be at home against either the Knicks, Nets, Hawks, Raptors or even the Bulls. Their second round series wound be on the road probably in Boston, but also could be in Philly. Much more favorable. 5 games to sort this all out. Need to consider trading Allen for shooters. Try to find a Kendrick Perkins type of body to play center so Mobley doesn’t get pounded playing center.
