brooks1957 Posted April 3, 2023 Share Posted April 3, 2023 Philly's magic number to lock the Cavs out of the 3 seed is 2. They have a 2-1/2 game lead with 4 to play for them, 3 for us. We have to win out (which we easily could do - 2 at Orlando, and at home vs Charlotte) and the Sixers have to lose out for the Cavs to jump the Sixers. I believe Philly owns the tiebreaker. So this is highly unlikely we get higher than 4. Our magic number to lock the Knicks out of the 4 seed is one. After Friday night's abysmal collapse, we owe those guys. They were the hungrier and more focused team Friday - and we played like everything was already all settled. I hope JB cracked some butts after that showing. We're a contender at this point and you do what you need to do to get better. We should definitely consider the possibility of swapping Allen for an equally gifted and valuable wing. That said, Allen/Mobley is what makes our defense tops in the league. Well if you watch the games it’s pretty obvious this isnt the best defense in the league. We play at the slowest pace in the league. So the stats look good on paper. You realize it’s possible for teams to play slow and still play bad defense, right? Our defense passes the eye test just fine. If anything the problem has been we wait until the 4th quarter to really turn it on, but when we are locked in we are easily a top 3 defense no matter what way you look at it and that’s because of Jarrett Allen and Mobley. If anything it seems like you’re the one not watching games.
