Brown was a 2nd rnd pick of the Pats, then played for NO last year & was on the Jags this year till the just cut him. We use the buffalo nickel & regular nickel or dime defense far more than a base 4-3, like 70-80% of the game vs like 20-30% of the game we’re in a base 4-3 that they probably will keep extra DBs & only 5 LBs. I think 🌽 (Corn Elder) makes it & Danny’s Johnson. The question for me becomes do they sign a vet FA slot corner like Chris Harris (I would) or sign/claim a better corner who’s cut? Again, I would. I want Juice to be our slot corner very bad, but it’s not his forte & I feel this whole year is going to be an up and down battle with Juice in the slot, compounded by the fact that Holcomb sucks in coverage or at least matching in his zone & that combo is just going to be easy pitch and catch for slot WRs & TEs all year IMO. Then, Ben Standing said something on the Craig Hoffman show yesterday afternoon that he felt they would keep 9 or even 10 DL, which I didn’t necessarily agree with but he said he felt guys like Toohill, Obada, Toney & maybe even WBK will make the final 53. I can see 5 DEs & one being cut/put on the practice squad in October or November when Chase comes back but we’ll have to see. As of right now, here’s how I see it w/o any FA signings or claiming someone’s cut, which I hope we do see at CB & LB: RDE: Sweat, Toohill, Toney DT: Allen, Daniel Wise NT: Payne, Mathis LDE: JSW, Obada MLB: Holcomb, Mayo WLB: Jamin, Hudson, Milo Buffalo: Curl RCB: Fuller, 🌽 Corn Elder LCB: WJ3, Christian Holmes (7th) Slot: Juice, Danny’s Johnson SS: Forrest, Reaves FS: McCain, Percy Butler (4th) That’s 25 defenders right there. Another question is does Steven Parker make the team? I think he should, but over who? Over Christian Holmes as the 6th corner? Over Shaka Toney who’s shown to be our best edge pass rusher but Montez Sweat this preseason & someone we could use on special teams and as a 3rd down pass rush specialist? Do you keep a 3rd SS/Buffalo nickel guy in Steven Parker over a 4th RB, 4th a TE or 10th OL? Again, I probably would bc I feel both Reaves & Steven Parker are amongst the best 53 guys on this roster & both are good on special teams but, it’s a tough decision, the final 5-10 decisions on who makes the team are always hard for coaches.
