Talk about Captain Hindsight here...

He was listed as a top 15 overall prospect lol. He's not a top 15 talent. Never was. The tools don't play up to the hype and never really did.

He's spare parts for someone like Juan Soto.

FanGraphs just ranked him as the 49th most valuable trade chip in MLB.  So he's clearly not just a throw-in.

Because they're still holding out hope on him. LIS, the tools don't play up. He's a "whole is great than the sum of its parts" type prospect. He's a fine headliner or piece in a deal for someone like Frankie Montas but it's a whole different story IRT Soto.

He's a fine player but he's nothing to write home about, not for how hyped he was as a prospect.

You don't even consider Carlson for Montas because of team control alone.  Montas might be one of the more overrated players being talked about this deadline.

And Carlson's one of the more overrated pieces being discussed himself. So they're perfect for each other.

Jim Bowden -  The Cardinals Dodgers & Padres have all improved their offers to the Nationals regarding a Juan Soto trade and now tomorrow we're going to find out what team really wants him the most. It's time for each of them to add that one more prospect they don't want to add. tick tock
