minnypackerfan
A true gentleman. I remember watching him in both his playing career and his broadcasting career. I thought he was just such a class individual. One of the truly great pro's both on the field and in the broadcast booth. Highly deserving of being elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. My thoughts and prayers to his family and his fans.

But he was Lenny The Cool and delivered for Kansas City !! That's true though it might have been simple stupidity. It was a same-last-name-but-no-relation situation Dawson's game was near flawless but the defense is what really won it. Below is a partly remastered video of the whole game. Most of the plays have been cleaned up and are in color. The parts between are still in B&W. On the first drives of the game, both teams could move the ball between the 40s, but the Chiefs came away with points while the Vikings punted, 3-0 after one quarter. The second quarter was all Chiefs as the running game consistently ground out 3-5 yards and the Vikings had no answer to the quick outs. At half it was 16-0. In the second half the Viking finally put together a scoring drive to pull with in nine points, but the Chiefs answered with their second touchdown, Otis Taylor taking a quick pass 46 yards for the score, 23-7. The fourth quarter went interception, four-and-out, interception, Chiefs run out the clock.  Dawson's line was 12-17, 142 yards, 1 TD, 1 Int, 3 sacks. The Int was on a long throw and pinned the Vikings on their own 7 yard line.

onejayhawk
Expected but it still hurts. I'm glad he had a chance to see another Chiefs team hoist the trophy.
