Deadpulse
probably for the best, he had no shot at playing at all this year and it gets rid of a distraction. Soak up that knowledge and see what he can do in camp next year.

I guess at least it’s still better than people lamenting the impact an injury has on their fantasy team

A lot of the time they are injuries that don't seem to be season threatening but are quickly put in IR before cuts. Now I am not saying that is happening here, but it probably warped my view a little bit. Easier for me to see the upsides because I have been forced to focus on them for most of my football watching life.

Was Corral even guaranteed the #3 spot? If not mysterious IR designation stash it is.
NudeTayne
Yeah, it really sucks that they didn't just take Sam Howell. I don't know why he fell so far. He looked like he had the "it" factor in college, a floor of Gardner Minshew and maybe starter potential. And he was a Tarheel 😭. Corral seemed like decent value where they got him, but still. He didn't look ready at all, though, so as long as he recovers fully then the injury might be serendipitous for the final 53.
SteelKing728
They should still try to trade Darnold.

Though I sincerely doubt the coaching staff is around next year, tbh.

To the IR with an ankle injury. ”Hey kid does your ankle hurt? (Say yes for easy salary and a chance to compete next year)”
KuechTheCat
That's unfortunate news. As others have said, though, nobody expected him to play this year. On the off chance the Rhule made a panic move and threw him in there because his head coach seat was heating up we things could have gone far worse for Corral behind that o-line. I definitely agree about tossing ballast with Darnold. It's past time for him to be gone. Dude still plays like a state of the art piece of "smart" technology. Great when it works, but it doesn't so why bother. Corral was always going to be a more long term work in progress. Here's hoping this injury doesn't disrupt the progress part.
