Are some of the complaints not valid though? The pacing was bad as everything was rushed and one of the main components to the show is Joel protecting this girl who's immune to the infection in hopes to find a cure from something we never really saw.

What is wrong w/ those complaints?

1. Everything wasnt rushed. There were both fast and slow paced episodes.

2. Its a human story with infected people elements. As opposed to a "show about zombies"

3. Joel acted in the way that befit him, as per his arc, even though he knew that ellie would want to be the potential source of the cure. Thats why he lied to her and wouldnt back down.

4. This isnt the Walking Dead, where the show was designed around set pieces. TwD was like "what kind of different walkers can we do to juice it up"

5. Every episode stands on its own, and tells a story. Just like TNG. Theres not filler episodes, although definitely a few bottle episodes, which is definitely cool because that builds the charatcerizations.

6. About pacing.....the pacing is excellent, as long as you remember that each episode is a beginning, middle, and end. The slow paced ones remain slow and the fast paced ones are fast. You can watch any episode at anytime and be satisfied.

7. If you want to see senseless monsters, watch the Conjuring or crap like that. Jaws proved that you shouldnt show your monsters too much or it gets silly.

The pacing issue is more for the series overall. They blitzed through so much in the game and left some things out entirely. If this was longer than nine episodes, it would’ve been that much better. Individual episode pacing was fine imo.

Not going to talk about pacing too much b/c it's been addressed by someone else. Whether you like it or not, this show was based on a video game. You cannot change that. As a result, the two are going to be compared endlessly and rightfully so b/c that is where the story comes from and it's the story we know. I'm not saying I want a video game recreation but I am saying I want pivotal points of the game to be in the story b/c those help make the story itself. They just flew through so much and got repetitive w/ every episode. Established main characters - introduced new people at the beginning of the episode and they died at the end. This happened w/ 90% of the characters we met.

2. The show doesn't need to be all about zombies. No one said it did. I just said if you're going to make a show where the main purpose of the two protagonists is to cure the world from the infected, you kinda might want to show the infected exist more than 30% of the episodes. As I've said in previous comments, they don't necessarily need on screen time. Simply having runner screams would've sufficed. Instead, they were an afterthought.

Not really sure where you're going w/ 3 and 4

5. There was absolutely filler episodes whether you want to call them that or not lol. 3 and 7 were definitely just that.

7. Again, no one said they wanted that.
