WR battle

Jameson Williams will start the season on PUP. Chark, Reynolds and St. Brown are safely set as starters. If the Lions keep 5 WRs, that leaves two open spots for Raymond, Cephus, Kennedy, Benson, Alexander, Pimpleton to fight over.

IMO, Tom Kennedy has earned a spot. He's been the stand out in preseason this far and played well last season in limited action.

Who do you keep? Can we possibly trade someone like Cephus? Do we pick up someone on waivers?

I get the feeling the Lions may keep 6 WRs initially.  Khalif Raymond is probably WR#4.  As much as I like Cephus, his injuries are a concern.  I think Tom Kennedy is WR#5 with Maurice Alexander sticking at KR/PR.  Pimpleton goes to the Practice Squad.  Trinity Benson has made some strides and could push for a roster spot but he might be a practice squad candidate as well.

Maybe we can trade Benson for a fifth?

Sorry, still salty about that one.

Seriously, I think on that list I'm keeping Raymond and Alexander. Would hate to cut Kennedy though, but I think he's on the outside looking in since he doesn't ST.

He has been seeing reps as a gunner and may have drawn a holding penalty against the Colts.  If Devon Allen doesn't make the Eagles final roster we should bring him in.  Dude has legit Olympic speed that translates to the field.

If they can get anything, even a 6th/7th round pick swap for someone like Cephus or Benson, I think that they do it. I love Pimpleton but he's probably a practice squad guy this year. Kennedy has looked good in preseason games but I'm not giving guys a spot based on how they've played against second and third stringers. If he has looked great in practice too then sure, give him a look I guess.

Cephus is fine as a depth guy but I think he's about to get buried on the roster. He hasn't stayed healthy and athletically he's just very limited. Benson hasn't shown enough to get many targets.

I'm not saying I'm concerned but I would have liked to see DJ Chark do anything in the preseason. I think he was targeted once and the pass was broken up.

I'm hoping that has to do more with Blough and Boyle then Chark. It's hard to get a gauge on it since Goff only played one series this preseason.

I think the fact that we haven't seen DJ Chark has more to do with keeping him ready for games that matter and not giving other teams any ideas on how we will be using him.

Sounds like Benson has a better shot at sticking than Cephus because of special teams.  But wouldnt be shocked if both are here for now and then one is cut when Jameo returns.

Chark I am not concerned with, he is a vet and wasting him out there is not important now.  Sounds like he has developed a good rapore with Goff in TC and thats good enough for me.  That being said, I am still thinking ARSB gets a ton of targets and will be the primary focus of our passing game so just need Chark to take the top off to keep the Saftey's honest and open it up for ARSB.
